Too funny. I did the same thing. The tech mount fits the "S" verizon just fine. The standard forks are fine. My father in law just got the mts so the mounts should fit his bike just fine

Yeah, I'm thinkin' of replacing my forks, just so it will fit! :D

The 8500ci is a bit dated. I would definitely look at the 9500ci if you are looking for better coverage. The 9500ci is probably one of the top few units out there. They do have a large CPU and detector unit (around 5x6 sq box) that would be difficult to mount on a bike. Also most of the installed units have a separate controller that I am not sure it's easy to control while riding. The standalone product that is close to performance is the x unit or the redline (excellent detection with no GPS). Depends on whether you want GPS. The disadvantage is these units are not weather resistance and need to be protected from elements

I would skip the zr4. It sort of works and that's about it. Laser detection/jamming is very effective (especially on a bike) with the proper unit. Look at laser interceptor ( I think it's on v8) now. I have it in all my sports cars and it is by far the most effective unit. People don't realize that laser can be disrupted with these units but it might be best to jam till you drop speed and turn off rather than jamming to gun. Especially since its illegal in many states. With motorcycles the jamming should be even easier given the smaller footprint.

Virginia uses pl3, stalker and prolite for liar in case anyone is interested. I have not ounces any of these on my bikes as I don't ride crazy in streets.

Post Install Pic's

Just a quick note to share an update on the install job. I tried to share a few pic's around the install. Overall I would say that I am happy with the install, even though it's not working.Overall everything was installed very well you would be hard pressed to know thy system is there (getting rubber fitted cover for the display)

I'm having the install guys meet me at the BH Ducati as I got a 'check engine' after the install, then when the the guys at the job fixed the 'check engine' they disconnected the power system.

I'm giving everyone a lot of slack as this is a first for both and hey, it almost Christmas!

#1 Pic - single LED warning indicator above the display (shows green or blinks red if hit with radar/laser)

#2 Pic - GPS receiver above right shock cover

#3 Pic - Laser jammer - you really can't see it, especially in the day light

#4 Pic - Second laser jammer - can you see it?

#5 Pic - Passport brain installed behind left fairing - having remote USB installed

#6 Pic - Audio out jack to ear bud. Fully programmable for voice or warning alerts for traffic camera, speed traps, radar, laser, etc.

As a reminder I'm not some hardcore speeder, but we get tickets at 6 mph over PSL when riding canyons, etc. and I''m looking for a little extra cover. I'll know in the coming weeks how it performs.....hopefully as advertised!

Built in Radar option - only $120

I took a Cobra i200 that interfaces to both iPhone and Android, velcro'd it under my faring, and wired it to the bike. Then I start up the app on my iPhone, and it displays warnings, and I hear them over my Buetoothed Sena whilst listening to music or carrying on a phone conversation.

Trauma

Nice setup. Does it interfere with a direct line of sight for the TFT?

The Valentine One is the best by far, plus it tells you how many radars it is seeing, and where they are . I have it on all my bikes/

I use them exclusively in my cars.

How do you mount it to your bike?

Can you put up a couple of pics??

Thanks

I was a police officer/corporal in SC for about 5 years as well before i got sick of the nights, weekends, holidays, forced overtime etc and got back into marketing.

Radar detectors use to crack me up. My rule was if i caught you speeding and you had one in plain sight, you got a ticket no matter what, Not for the radar detector because they weren't illegal but just because you thought you would try and beat me, it was just my way of showing you that you didn't. I also liked getting behind cars who had them in their window, i would turn my radar on and off and watching the lights go up and down in their car, that was always funny as well on a boring night.

Also, Laser can not be jammed. I have never had a car "jam" my laser or my radar X, K, KA Band for that matter. All a laser detecter will do for you is confirm that A: You have been caught, B: Warn you to decide if your going to Pull over or take off, those are your only 2 options.

A Jammer in theory will send off false beams making radar detection show ridiculous high speeds normally and thats only if the officer is using K/KA band which most in car units are now X Band, K Band, Ka Superwide, Ku Band, VG-2, Spectre 1 and Spectre IV+). False readings aren't a normal occurrence and will tip the officer off and it will still get you pulled over, if not for the higher speed, just to get looked at and your car/bike searched, yes if the officer can articulate that there is probable cause that you are using a jammer, you will get searched and if found, your equipment will be confiscated at minimum.

I think jammers and Radar Detectors are a waste of time and effort and if your spending that kind of money to try to protect yourself from being caught driving fast, then you should just invest that money into a false plate and plan to take off if someone lights you up, your odds will be much better getting away that way. I never ran my radar constantly nor do most of the officers or troopers that i know, they just hit the trigger and by the time your radar detector lights up, its too late, we got you. Yea, you cant detect Any Radar or Laser until they send the signal which means they already got you....

Sorry after all the training and experience and training i have had with speed detection, those things are just a joke and your not only wasting money on the equipment but also the 1k your giving to someone to install it for you (for 1k, you should be able to install some cloaking device haha). Wait until you actually get popped, your going to feel real silly with your 2k in speed equipment while your getting your ticket.

EVEN IF these magical Jammers worked, What would you do when 2 patrols are detecting your speed from 2 separate sides of the road at the same time? Even if your "jammer" worked, it wouldn't be able to hit both of them at once.

Just my 3 cents.

That is some funny shiznit!

I accept the fact that if I'm caught then I'm caught, but the V1 is a superior product that has never let me down. Ever. And I've come down from some serious speeds (responsibly) in my P cars with it. (thank you PCCB!)

Laser jammers?? I got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you. As my friends in the cop biz say..." with lasers...its "tag...your it"

Tag your it is just about right. :) People use to think that the laser has to be pointed at your front license plate to work as well (untrue). Lots of wise tales out there. What people also may not know is that in some states, your speed is clocked by distance travel, by air detection, by camera detection etc etc. I agree that that stuff wont "hurt" you other than take up precious real estate on your bike, its just a constant race to keep up. The companies who make those radar detectors also produce the radar units for the police, so its a win win for them. But just like APPPLE products, just when you think you got the best, out comes the newest latest greatest Band that you wont see....

Also a little Radar education. Traditional Radar send out beams that detect the fastest, largest moving vehicles, so if your speeding its best to be near semi's since the size of the trucks will over shadow your size and speed, giving you time to slow it down before the officer visually sees you. Anyone who is half educated in radar and how it works can reduce their chances of being caught if they know how to drive fast in and around the right vehicles. Radar is not a direct beam like Laser and its a little harder to prove a car is speeding if its next to a larger vehicle. However, as i stated before, Laser is a different beast all together and i could have grabbed your speed a mile before you even seen me, drank a cup of coffee and then made a quick phone call then pulled out right behind you before you knew i was there, as long as i had your plate, you were mine :)

I use Valentines on all my cars and my K1300S - and the only time I got a ticket with no warning, was from an aerial trap - which being a pilot, I say hats off to you if that's what you need to do to catch me.

Radar works 95% of time because cops are lazy. They leave the thing running all the time, and you pick it up thousands of feet away. As for instant on, you usually pick up hits ahead of you. The other times, if I miss it and get caight, my lawyer "takes care" of it. And Jay, to your point, if I do get pulled over, I remove the Radar detector from sight, and am very polite - it makes it a lot easier for my lawyer. As for out running, it is dificult to out run a radio, but back when I was 19-21, I had black decals that were silhouettes of police cars (3) on my Z1R fairing, one for each time I eluded capture :D

Trauma, then your one of the smart ones then and a good attitude always went far with me, plus the fact you would have hidden your radar detector before hand means that your one of the smart ones who don't mount it directly in the middle of their windshield for the whole world to see ;-) Sounds like you might be one of the few i would have cut a break to! For those people who use attorneys for speeding tickets, i always got some sort of satisfaction because most of them paid a lawyer more than they would have paid for the ticket so i never took it personally :p and you only outran 3? I had that number under my belt by age 19 hahaha i would have expected more out of you! Also radio is faster but if I didn't see what the hell just blew by me at 100+ MPH i would generally skip that transmission.

Most big cities have a no chase policy these days due to liability issues. When it came to sport bikes, when i caught them i use to just hit my lights which I'm sure caused a few heartbeat skips.

Side note, to prevent starting a whole new thread, i need a good mount for my iPhone, can you put a link up to the ram you guys use?

For the 5:
Amazon.com: RAM Mount Apple iPhone 5 Custom Cradle: Cell Phones & Accessories

Several years back, AAA would reimburse your traffic lawyer fee (not DWI), so it used to cost nothing! Where I live, its a simple thing to get it switched to non-moving violations, the cities just want the money - so no points and cheap fees :D

Information about radar detectors, laser jammers and laws.

Radar Roy. If you guys have never heard of him, you should read up on some of this. Very useful information about how radar detectors, laser jammers and laws. Reviews and videos of testing versus each radar and laser gun in a police officers arsenal. I am not picking an argument but there are laser jammers that work.

He not only reviews each detector and jammer on the market, but he works and has been an officer for quite some time. He trains police at the same time in radar and laser usage, he's sort of a double agent. But check out this site, it has some very useful knowledge with videos proving the quality of these products and which detection systems they do/don't work against.

Here is a jammer:

How can you keep track of everything going on! Props! I just have my radar and cell phone (use the GPS on the cell phone when I need.) but looking to mount it on the bike this next season. I used to use a techmount and cell phone/gps grip mounted to the fork tube on my 848. The fork tubes are obviously bigger on this bike so I sold the mount. But looking into these mounts and setups is helping me get an idea of what to do. Thanks for the info.

I have been using Valentine 1 for over 10 years in my cars now and so far only one ticket. That was because I forgot to turn it on one day and I was the first car up the hill. The radar has paid for itself at least 100 time already. I agree that if you are the first to be shot at then you will go off like a Xmas tree, but if somebody is using it ahead of you or around you it will give plenty of warning to react. Paying attention helps as well :)
