RearSet Opinions?

Help Support Ducati Forum:

I was thinking either the Corsa or double bubble. I feel like it would help at about 80-90 when I still want to sit up but am going fast enough to lay down. It won't be the next thing I do but it's on the list. I think the stock rear spring replacement and rearsets are first.

I got a 2013 Pani S, I got the Lighttech and LOVE THEM!!!!!
There are so many different kind of adjustments that there's no way you can go wrong with them and I haven't had a problem with them.
Great buy!

Sounds like you need to be researching which rearsets have the most range of possible adjustments. On the 1199, I've only ever used the Rizoma RRC. Strangely enough, they are the least expensive of all the rearsets I've seen - save the direct-from-Hong Kong knockoffs on eBay - since Rizoma parts are typically the most expensive in their respective categories. $664 at Motowheels.com with a membership discount.

Here are pictures of mine:

Being that you're so tall, I would imagine you've got proportionate feet. I wear size 11.5-12 boots and the Rizoma pegs are about as narrow as I would want them. Any narrower and too much of the width of my boot would hang off. Something else to consider.

I've used Woodcraft on other bikes, highly recommended especially if you're going to race or track a lot. As was mentioned, parts are meant to be replaced easily and many online retailers carry them.

I echo Anti's comments.

I spent probably 5 hours mounting up the Ducabike versions. The bolts as shown in the lousy directions was contacting the swingarm, until the tech got mad and replaced the bolts with some they had lying in a goodie-box.

They aren't too bad, but after getting wet they aren't smooth and I have to lube them. I bought the Duca's last year after I got back from working overseas, so I didn't have a chance to see if I should return them or not.

Would love to have the Attack versions like I had on my 848. Those are some great rearsets! I have heard the Woodcraft are also very good.

I got the Duca's because they had GP shift already and I didn't wanna mess around with the shifter for track days. I had Woodcraft on my '03 GSX-R 1000 and they were awesome.

It's a tough call on rearsets. The Metal Tech versions seem pretty good too. I just wish the folding pegs and bearings like on the Attack Rearsets were standard across the board.

Bearings on the shifter side are crucial to smooth shifting IMO.

Thanks 1199SGold. I think the Rizoma's are the best, cleanest looking. Thats probably what I will go with unless something crazy that I haven't seen comes around. I'm used to the pegs and levers being small and that doesn't bother me much, as long as my feet can be relaxed while riding.

Thanks again to everyone else as well. Your input really helps.

My first set of Gilles had needle bearings which did seize up on me. They got replaced within ball bearings under warranty. Let them go with the old bike because I had a lowside with the stockers.

Got brand new ones for the new bike and since I had experience with installing them I managed to get a super tight fit out of them with virtually no play in the levers.

The most adjustable I've seen are the CNC brand. I think the distributor is Carbonworld. Not sure of the price but they looked very nice.Pretty sure they are Italian made.

I have CNC Racing Adjustable RPS (PE400B) Rearsets and love it!
It is very adjustable and top quality.

Anti, my Lightech are miles ahead of stock. Shift and brake has no play but easier to use due to ball bearings. Feels like I got a new transmission in the process and I thought it was good before. Brake feels great also and easier to modulate.

Not sure if there is any difference between the stock and R model other than titanium fasteners and carbon heel guards. Lightech does claim they are machined to a higher finsh?

Price is equal or higher than DP but due to bad knee I had to have something close to stock in low position. Mine are about the same as stock in lower forward position but has very good and easy adjustability.

Lightech Rear sets IMHO is hands down the best for the 1199. I replaced my Rizoma's with the Lightech R. Much smoother action when shifting and braking due to the smooth action bearings. Lots of adjustments folding foot and toe pegs, easy to install, Ti hardware (screws), looks good, high quality finish. Downside is its expensive.

Ok, just pulled the Ducabike rearsets off last night and discovered they'd been rubbing into my swingarm when the suspension fully extends. So instead of putting them on my new bike I opted for DP and wish I'd just gone DP to begin with. I spent close to $1500 on Gilles and Ducabike and should have gone with DP (or possibly Lightech, but I'm not a fan of the looks).

DP also, contrary to popular belief, allows you to switch between GP and Standard shifting without needing that $300 linkage.

Anyone want to buy a used set of Black Ducabike rearsets? PM me--need to sell 'em w/in the next week.

First post here, so this is important ;-) I may not be 7' tall like the OP but I'm 6-2 and 50yrs old... and the knees aren't what they used to be. Bike is a '14 1199R. I want more leg room, less wrist strain and though my hope is to one day be a knee dragger, I'm a dirt rider and at my age, I doubt I can get that low. I can't even spread my inside thigh enough to get the knee out like I need to. So for now, while I'm working on technique, I want to get more comfortable so I can stay focused. Does that mean I want rearsets moved back and down or ??? What other mods would you recommend. Thanks for the help.

first of all you need to get comfy with the bike and that means you have to fees secure on it. if you really want to go knee dragging, get different pegs in the beginning (rizoma, LSL) to get more grip on your feet.

with all the adjustability on the rearsets, i am not sure, if anyone even tried a lower/back position on them. most track riders have them higher i guess. i don't even know if the range is there.

we can start a comparison thread... i throw in the data of my GILLES when i find the time.

also for better grip on the bike, check a different seat and some storm grips on your tank. ;)
