RearSet Opinions?

Has anyone tried AEM rearsets? They look sweet but wondering if anybody has any feedback or issues with them.

I've not seen them in person, but the Gia moto rearsets look very nice, and are not super expensive

I have them and the DP levers. Quality is outstanding if you can stomach the price. About $400 for the levers and $1200 for the rear sets.

Who has SATO Rear Sets?
How is installation? Is there a DIY?

I always try the threads first. Get no answer. Start my own thread. Then get crap for starting my own thread. -_-

Think I'm gonna ask my dealer to include one or both of them with the 1299s purchase lol.

Can someone help me find a Rear Set DIY? I'm buying the SATO rear sets and trying to find a DIY somewhere to no avail. Thank you in advance for your time!

I have not seen one for the sato's, however they are all pretty straight fwd. you are probably going to splice in a rear brake pressure switch, think about your brake and gear lever connection points, generally you will have to connect them before you bolt the main body to the bike. use Loctite!

Finally lost my patience with the Ducabike Rear Sets. Yesterday went out for a ride and they feel just as sloppy as they did before doing the SKF Heim Joints.

Perhaps the shifting mechanism in the engine or the clutch slave has something to do with the overall feel of the shifting?

Regardless, the mechanical design of the Ducabike rearsets are just plain wobbly and you can't dial out the movement of the parts by adjusting the linkage or the other parts behind the sets.

I ordered some CNC racing versions last night from Bellisimoto. Since I use GP shift these hopefully will be a marked improvement. They have bearings like my Attack Racing versions for my old 848. Those shifted very well. just mad that after one broken shift pivot bolt, and now I am on my 3rd pivot bolt since the second one bent a bit.

The third one went in today and will nurse the shifter until I can get the new rear sets in the mail this week.

Very frustrating having a cobby shifting mechanism on such a great bike. Never have seen so much drama regarding shifters before on any of my other bikes.

Looking at all the play between the parts behind the plate, it seems that the lack of bearings and the 3-4 pivots and joints contribute to the lack of an effective design.

DP rearsets here and I love them and wouldn't hesitate to buy them again. Silky smooth operation and installing them myself wasn't too bad. Haven't had any issues with the operation or any parts breaking or bolts falling off since my original install. Probably have about 5k mi on them and 6 track days.

I do have a friend that went with the Sato for more adjustability cause he's a bit taller than me and he hasn't had any issues with them. Fit and quality look good also.

I am curious if anyone who has the CNCs installed would offer their opinions. I am very tempted to go with those. They look great and while not cheap, they are not as pricey as the DP Performance and they seem to have more adjustability. Thanks

I'll post up my impressions of the CNC rear sets in a week or so. I can tell you that coming from Attack Racing with bearings and Woodcraft on my K3 GSX-R 1000 and the failed Ducabike design as noted by Anti-Hero and others, you won't go wrong with the CNC design.

Thanks JHT. I am in no rush but it would be great to hear your thoughts. The CNC's look great and at the top of my list for now.

Why don't you call the guys at Woodcraft. I bet they have some thoughts, since they design and build the products themselves, not to mention supply quite a few riders/racers with parts. Eric Wood is/was a CCS/AMA racer himself and I think he rides an 1199.

Just ordered a set of Lightech R series. Not a bad price for $775 USD.
