Replace Antifreeze

Yes.

And if you can't find water wetter, Isopropyl Alcohol works.

WW gets a nod because it has a dye in it so you know it's been added. But Water Wetter is essentially Isopropyl Alcohol. It's for reducing/eliminating internal cavitation (reduces surface tension).

How many bottles of ww are needed after a complete flush?

Not much.

Panigale manual says cooling system is 0.61 gallons (or slightly more than 2 US quarts). WW says add 1 ounce per quart - and the bottle I have is a 12 ounce bottle. So about 1/4 bottle (3 ounces) will do you.

Hi, I know this might sound like a stupid question, but I have been trying to find out where exactly the radiator drain plug is. I need to drain it and put in water wetter for the track.
Does anyone have a pic?

My dealer put engine ice today on my bike. One full bottle.
At track they request that to be able to ride.

I just had the coolant changed on the latest service done to the new Motul Mo Cool. I will be going on a ride tomorrow and see if it changes the temp at all over the stock anti-freeze.

Motul Mo Cool

•Reduce engine temperature up to 30°F
•Outstanding thermal exchange
•Reduces corrosion, compatible with coolants
•Approved for racing, street and offroad use
•Increases performance
•Concentrate, mix at 5% (20:1)
•Quantity of 1 need for coolant change
•16.9 FL OZ

pls let us know....i'm consistently hitting 216-237°F in stop and go.....if 30°F reduced i'm in, tho i seriously doubt anywhere near that improvement...

It says up to 30 degrees. I will see how it does and report back.

We are doing a normal ride tomorrow that includes Palomar Mountain and S22 down to Borrego Springs (Glass Elevator). I normally see temps in the 217-221 in traffic going and coming back.

This is really late but will hopefully help the next person who searches. It takes a 4mm hex and has red loctite on it.

Yes, it is 4mm allen key. A word of advice, use a good allen key to undo that bolt. Best not to use ball-end allen key too.
That bolt is very soft.
It is perhaps best to change that bolt to a proper headed allen bolt too instead of round headed.

And no, stock coolant (Agip ducati) is better than water+mocool. But water+mocool is better than cheap glycol or just water.
Based on my testing, in traffic and at speed, water+mocool is about 2-4 percent hotter than stock ducati coolant, but it is about 2% cooler than cheap glycol coolant (never gonna use that again, ever!).
Adding mocool into stock coolant at the recommended 1:20 also gives about 2% to 4% lower temperature too.

I mainly use water+mocool for the track due to its anticorrosion, and it is better than just water.

I have been running the MoCool at 5% (20:1) for almost a year now. I didn't really see any significant reduction unless pushing really hard in the canyons. I did note a reduction while pushing it at a good pace. The traffic temps didn't change as the fan really controls those temps. Would be nice to be able to set the fan temps lower.

Unless you have more track days planed, I'd switch back to coolant for the street ASAP.

Someone mentioned that some tracks don't tech inspect coolant anymore. That's true. And it's because they don't have to anymore.

It's $200+ per track day. If we subtract the breaks, that's about 4 hours of track time max. How long does it take to clean up a wrecked bikes coolant mess?

Wrecking your bike, then going back to the pits and seeing your truck sitting on 4 flat tires, smashed windshield, Prestone Coolant soaked into the drivers seat, and a good portion of the empty bottle crammed into the CD player......kinda gets the point across. Makes legend. Every rider in the state knows now. LOLz. Don't be that guy. :D

I haven't changed mine out yet, but I preferred Water + WW. I've tried a couple of those other products, and I found that Water/WW kept the temps at the lowest. The engine cooled faster when moving, but also got hotter faster when not...

There's a good reason for that. Water has a higher heat transfer coefficient than glycol. It also has a higher heat capacity than equivalent volume of glycol.

Clean (distilled) water with a surfactant (such as WW) is going to run cooler than than any of that over-hyped glycol crap.

True, you do run the risk of engine damage to freezing temps. So if you're running clean water you need to make sure you don't get caught in freezing temp storage and should add some antifreeze solution to guard against the possibility.

But for cooling, it's a waste of money if you're running glycol.

i tend not to ride in temps sub 45-50 degrees. and my pani is stored in an attached garage. Never cold in there.

But i don't remember on my gixxer, which at the time was being stored in a large aluminum shed...i came to visit during the winter, and noticed water drops under it. I took off the radiator cap to find slush

fortunately, nothing was damanged.

It's not just for freezing. Water will eat soft metals. Especially if the engine has a hot spot. And water with WW will change in PH quicker as well.

Water is great at the track where you have constant airflow all the time. But at a traffic light.......

Peak Global is the only coolant I know of that'll protect soft metals, without depositing minerals in coolers and such. It meets Cat, Cummins, DD, Mercruiser, Volvo, MTU, Ford, etc. etc. That's the catch with them. One brand wants a coolant that'll protect soft metals. But those same protective chemicals clog the coolers on the other brands so they recommend something different.

Too bad that Peak Global (pinkish red) is super leaky. Thin synthetic that'll leak any chance it gets. Even from perfectly good seals and gaskets sometimes. And where it leaks from it leaves super hard stalagmites and pink concrete stains. Sometimes it'll even self seal a hole in a hose like a tire sealant (not sure if it's supposed to do that). No free lunch I guess, there's always a catch.

Just to add my $0.02...

I switched to Engine Ice this winter. As a side note I removed my radiators and *thoroughly* flushed them.

My bike always regulated between 212 F and 217 F in stop and go traffic. Hits 217, fans kick in, cools to 212, and fans turn off. Wash-rinse-repeat. Never let me down (proverbial knock on wood).

After Engine Ice it still regulates temp the same in stop and go traffic. The only legit change I think I noticed was once at high operating temps and I hit an open spot on the road it does seem to cool quicker. Like its more efficient with heat transfer. It could be placebo. I have no scientific evidence to back this up. Just "feeling"... YMMV

Hi guys.

Could you recommend me the coolant? Yesterday I drain it when replace some parts and now need to find new one.
I have checked the manual and they recommend the Shell Advance Coolant but I can not find anything about this product. I think it's end of sale.

Please help to find something :)

^Any MC specific coolant will do.

I added water wetter to my Pani and temps are well below the 238 degrees I have seen on hot days last year. Bike runs normally now around 180-190 degrees.
