I have to say I find this thread very amusing.
The trip meter counts up
I have filled the tank up just after the amber light comes on (twice) and I got 10 ltrs of fuel in it (both times).
Without running it dry I cannot confirm the tank hold 17lt :)

For the price of the 1199, what is stopping Ducati to add a fuel gauge.

-reuse the level sensor (potential-meter) from multi-strada
-output of sensor connects to a single Analgue-to-Digital Converter channel of existing
Micro-controller driving the 1199 instrument display unit (guessing they have spare ADC)
-add some software...(engineer's man hours)......calibrate 0.5V-4.5V correspond to 0liters-17liters.....display bar graph ...

oh come on Ducati...

L/100km....seems like a smoking gun to me...

Have you seen the dashboard simulator?

Go take a spin through that and see what it shows you.

I find it very frustrating.

Good to see you out there putting some kms on it!

10L at the reserve light? Holy crap! That's weird.
How many kms had you done up to that point?

My 999 turns the fuel light on pretty much at 10L. 15.5 L tank. Light blinks on/off for about a litre till its on permantly around 11L. That means about 5 L reserve. Sounds like nothing has changed at all.

BTW the 999 owners use the old open the tank and take a look fuel gauge. Not pretty but it works. You are at the 5 L reserve when you see the level just at the bottom hump. This also is the level you want to go out on track for a 20min rip!!! Anything less may give you a stall under braking near the end of your run LOL:cool:

If you numb nutz can figure all this out then why you crying about not having a more detailed fuel guage? You're practically riding a street legal race bike, lucky you even got a fuel light much less a mile counter after it turns on.

I loved that feature on my 1198 and it was all I needed...I know when the light comes on I have about 30 more MILES/48 KM of even aggressive riding...get to a station retard !!!

:D - That's funny

Cos it's such a ....... inconvenience and emasculating to have some useful information available at a glance.

Put your cocks away lads.

wait, are you guys telling me there's no auto dimming mirrors, GPS nav or air conditioned passenger seat? Even my truck has these. w-t-f? ;)

And now let's get back to the ride report! More first person impressions, please.

I would love GPS on the display!
You guys are silly if you don't want these features. Please don't consfuse features that add weight and distract from the mission, but real time fuel economy, gas level, distance to empty, all that .... is helpful. Make fun all you want, but this thing and every other sport bike is far from a race bike with lights. It's closer than many, but still a lot heavier, quiter, more refined, etc.

The whole argument that it'd add weight is ridiculous... It'd all be software caluclations. Is someone on here telling me that COMPUTER CODE saved in one of the 3+ ECU's going to add weight to the Pani?

If so, you are officially crowned "KING-OF-TARDS!" Take your crown and go eat paint chips you crazy ..........

If that's the case, I'm getting my deposit back.

Hell, I can't remember the last bike I had that came with a fuel gauge. The last several had the same light or prior to that I lifted the lid and looked at how much fuel was in there. My dirt bike has no gauge and that's how I check for fuel amount.
