I doubt it. I'm sure this has happened before. Bill.. You were talking to me about the rizoma lux fit correct? I'm going to text vern today about the rider and see how the poor guy is doing. Hopefully he's ok.

Bill was the one mainly talking to you, I was the listener next to him, my name is Shawn. Yes I was the one that asked you about the Rizoma grips, have to drop a customer off at EC tomorrow, going to pick up the grips then, waiting for my throttle meisters to come in and it's go time! Bill has the Tricolore, I was on my white 1199S

Guy was in the hospital for only a day and is released and well now. Supposedly is an experienced rider, had ridden to Eurocycles that day and has full coverage on his own bike. The 899 is totaled

Thanks for the update. So no idea what happened? Looks like someone could have pulled out in front of the guy on his test ride. One of many possibilities but no one from the area seems to report what happened. I guess I'm going to have to call the dealer to hear their story because I'm so curious.

I hope he's okay and heals up fast. Restraint and judgment should be heavily emphasized prior to these test rides. Sometimes it is and sometimes it's not. More than likely, enthusiasm exceeded judgement.

Without knowing any facts...I cannot see how you can possibly say that??

I have ridden with that fella and I can vouch for him, James is an experienced rider and a great guy.

Yes he's very experienced. Great guy. I ride with him all the time. I will not go into specifics. He was found unconscious face down in a ditch not too far from the dealer. He had a mild concussion and a broken nose split lip. And bumps bruises. Nothing real serious. Stayed overnight in the hospital. And home now.

The thread is titled "Inexperienced Rider . . . . "
But, everyone vouches that he's experienced.
The guy that knows what happened doesn't want to go into the specifics. That says something of significance and I'm glad he's okay.

Not anymore... I changed it... from reading this thread it was obviously a fallacious assumption...:)

How dare you not change it to "Experienced rider crashes..." :D:D

Must be some insurance thing with lawyers and money involved, hence all the "hush-hush" .... responses on here.

Oh yeah, I totally forgot!!! Sorry, how are you healing, last I knew you were able to go for medium length rides ( probably longer than I go)....?

I am up to around 200 miles before my body says no more... I have a 750ish mile (3 day) trip coming up weekend of Easter.... I will get there... I am old I heal slowly..But thanks for asking man...

No problem. I'm rusty in the spring, winter sucks.... Last time I was on my 1199 was November 2nd, 158 days ago, give or take... I am still waiting for the rain to clean the salt off of the roads before I go out. But it's hard when we have a warm sunny day. Good luck on your trip!!!

Ouch. You'd think dealers would love (but cringe) when someone wrecks a bike, as it's an instant sale.

When I test rode an S1000RR they actually were in front of me the whole time, giving me very little chance to enjoy (or destroy) the bike. I've never test ridden a Ducati, but from what I've been told it's usually a 'here's the key--go have fun' experience.

As an FYI, journalists rarely ever crash the bikes they're testing. I always figured 1/10 bikes came back ...... up, but Ducati has said it's actually a very, very rare event--like 1 ever 2 years.

That's how my Ducati test ride experience was. And it was what sold me on the 1199 too. I had a similar experience at BMW testing the S1000RR, they tossed me the keys and much like at the Ducati dealer, they encouraged me to 'have fun'
