Is there an actual prize awarded for podium finishes for each race? I mean, I'm aware that these results earn sponsors n all that but is there prize money outside of their contract money or some other benefit besides points in the standings and front row/media fame?

I am pretty sure that they get a bonus money. Cal mentioned it one time during the interview.

I'll take the different opinion. JLo has publicly blamed his performance on a "defective" tire from Bridgestone, causing his tire to look much worse off than Rossi's in parc ferme:
Of course they have different riding styles, but JLo is typically a low-key, "do-the-right-thing" kind of guy that IMHO wouldn't pass the blame onto a vendor unless it was true. JLo has beaten Rossi fair and square several times this season so I don't think he's at the point of utter frustration to try and deflect getting beaten by Rossi.

Too much dwell time on the edge of the tyre's, you can watch his technique and compare it to the Kid, Rossi, and some of the other hot dogs, Jorge is more of a smooth old time style with a lot of prolonged lean angle, feet always on the pegs, non of the current violent acrobatics currently being used by the front runners to save the edge of the tyres.

i mean the race means nothing to him standing wise. of course he wants to win as any athlete or competitive person does but if he crashes trying something or whatever it has no effect on his standing.

yea Orat has been playing jlo like a fiddle. i guess orat wanted all those second place finishes and wins from jlo to make it so close that these next 2 races mean something.
give it a rest already orat has won 4 races in 4 years and all this talk. do you realize that marc marquez WINS half the races he is in. HALF. Orat has won 4 in 4 years. if you talk about what orat has done 7 years ago might as well talk about what the cowboys did in the 90s and 49ers in 80s and steelers in 70s

I think what we have here is failure to communicate. I, in no way, said that Rossi has been playing Jorge like a fiddle for any length of time. My point was CLEARLY about the last race. Rossi had the faster bike, clearly, and instead of engaging in a prolonged battle with Jorge, he wisely put his back tire on Jorge's front and forced Jorge to race hard. It was a smart move.
I was talking about this race, and no other race, and if you didn't see that then your hatred runs beyond internet troll levels.
Of course he didn't. But since my comments were in reference to one specific race, the rest of your comment is meaningless..
And this has what to do with what I typed? Marquez is the .... and will be a contender for GOAT in due time.

IF the SAME PLAYERS from the 1990 Cowboy's were STILL PLAYING TODAY, and coming in second place, then your COMPARISON would make a sliver of sense.

There's lots of ex Rossi fans that are not Rossi haters Sloopy and they're definatly not cowards!! Ok? And they usually agree to the fact that yes he's the best ever motorcycle racer that's ever been (except of course for the Ducati years) where Stoner tottaly kicked arse & won 23 Moto's and the only ever MotoGP championship for Us but apart from that yes he's the best ever but some of us have just seen through his machinations over the years,because he always fuels up the fans & riders especially when things don't go his own way and plays off quite cunningly against anyone that is either winning Moto's in front of him or stealing the limelight, this even dates back to the 500cc era when he had problems with Sete Gibanaue then Max Biaggi & then Casy Stoner now it's Lorenzo & Marquez surprisingly only guys that have only ever won races or championships against him, because he's got a highly intelligent racing brain and knows how to pull strings with the media & fans, the best that's ever been but a cold blooded killer on & off the track and it's starting to tarnish a great champion.

His life involves around hating Rossi. I mean look at his signatrure...which is just dedicated to hating Rossi.
I only know when a man hates another man to this level...either he or his fan screwed his wife or girlfriend.
