Rossi only 1 point ahead of Dovi

Rossi hasn't been the same since he ran over Sic. I think it's in his head.

^^^This. I still have that original live Sepang '11 broadcast on my DVR and while CEII's bike first hit the rear of Sic's bike, it was clearly Rossi's impact square on Sic's upper torso that knocked his helmet off and killed him. Even though it was a freak accident and no-one can be blamed, Sic apparently was Rossi's real friend and I believe it weighs more on his mind than he has ever let on.

Frankly, I'm impressed that he didn't retire right there and has kept on for another 3 years. I actually think his head got slightly screwed up even before that, when he had the 2010 practice crash on the Yamaha at Mugello that broke his leg. I don't think he had ever been hurt that bad in all his previous years of racing and it was a sort of wake-up call about his mortality.

Lastly, that first lap tangle with Bautista in the 2013 Mugello GP that had him go headlong into a tire/padded barrier and bounce like a rag doll probably reminded him of all the above. He seriously could have been killed or worse in that crash.

rossi is running quite well give its his first year back on yamaha; and remember, he's still near the top amongst the fastest humans alive at near retirement age and was crashed into. gimme a break!

Define "near the top"? Other than race one he hasn't been anywhere near JLo, MM or DP.

and this is a perfect example of what i call a rossi drone.

Everyone don't get your panties all in a bunch. LOL We're all armchair QBs here. And yes Rossi can run rings around everyone here on a lesser bike. But that doesn't mean we can't haven't some fun :)

Fair Weather Fan(boy).

There I just made up a new term. Mark owns it.

What you guys don't know is that I have known Mark for years. He was the biggest Rossi nuthugger on the R1 forum when Rossi was unstoppable and immediately jumped ship for JLO or whomever was winning at the time when Rossi crashed and wasn't winning. You watch, the minute Marquez or Pedrosa stops winning you'll see him start posting how great Crutchlow is and how he "followed him before he was big". We hung out once in the city and he was decked out in VR46 gear. Dude even had fluorescent VR46 sneakers on! All that stuff went to eBay once the losing started.

Ok we all know markNY hates Rossi. In this great nation of ours he is entitled to his own opinion.

That being said, Rossi has done more for motogp in modern media times than anyone else. He is a great rider (IMO) and has a charismatic flair that is unmatched. The showmanship to elevate the sport is without class. He is a complete rider. How many others do you see smiling as he does, even after a crash.

Granted, he is not the Fastest right NOW, but even If he came in 20th at the end of the season, I would still support him. We are witnessing a passing of one of the greats.

I call it nostalgia ( i grew up watching him, and maybe its an old guy thing) and respect for someone who has done a lot for the sport ( not Drone as some members have so eloquently put it). Season is only 33.3% done. A lot can happen. My lot is already with Rossi. Come
what may.

Geez don't you guys watch sports and talk .... with friends? LOL Half the fun is giving rival fans grief when their team (or in this case rider) isn't doing so well. :) Everyone chill out and stop taking everything so personally. Heck my favorite GP rider retired early. ;)

Thanks frostyfire. I don't know what I'd do without you. Your going to be a busy guy if you go on correcting everyone on this forum.lol

Valentino Rossi is already a legend being a 9x World Champ! He is considered to be MR. MOTOGP! He has thousands of fans around the world! me being one of them.

Fact is: These guys Pedrosa, Lorenzo, crutchlow and now Marquez are faster than Rossi...these are the new breed of Young Talented MotoGP racers.

Verdict: Rossi's time has come...like all world Champions...there will be always newer, younger and better ones... Though Rossi is still my choice as a MotoGP ambassador, has awesome media PR breeding compared to other riders who are a snub at media people...

My bet is on the table as who will be next world MotoGP Champ? It will be wild card -Marc Marquez! He is simply aggressive and out to attack the top riders...He is the main man to watch in MotoGP.

As a MotoGP Attack Dog - Marquez is the man...
As MotoGP Ambassador - Rossi is the best ambassador AND in motorcycle racing as a whole!

You gotta give it to Rossi, as he knows his place in the pecking order and doesn't mind poking fun at himself. Did you see his 2013 Mugello helmet design? There are 4 cartoon racer caricatures on the lower sides of the helmet. The first three represent the undisputed "Aliens" - Pedrosa (Orange), Marquez (Red) and Lorenzo (Blue), with him putting the Honda's out front because he believes they have an advantage over the Yamahas this year. The last caricature is his trademark yellow color, and his character is "struggling" to reach out for the first three. How cool is that for a guy that should have an Ego the size of his garage (or equal to Stoner)?

+1 - it's not like the turtle is an accident either. Love the guy's personality. Could care less if he wins or not, but I'd rather him be in front all the same.

I must say that is funny! :D

Another interesting stat is that Rossi is only 2 points better through the first 6 races this year as he was last year and he's in the exact same position Dovi was in (5th) standings wise. Although Dovi was on an inferior Satellite Tech 3 Yamaha compared to Rossi's full works bike. ;) But, I think it's cool that he can poke fun at his own declining alien status, I'll give him that much LOL.

He has scored more points than Stoner has this year. At least he's not a quitter.

ok drone number 2. stoner retired he didnt quit big difference. if he quit he would have stopped racing after the indy crash. instead he came back and made the field look foolish at philip island. also it is very possible that if he didnt crash he would have won the whole thing but if my aunt had balls she would be my uncle. he didnt retire because he wasnt winning he retired because he didnt like the prez of motogp and he didnt enjoy it. Is there any question that if he didnt retire rossi would be even further back. not in any racing persons mind.
