Is this showing of the different compounds normal. This is after about 3,000kms or 2,000 miles. Any comments appreciated!

Good question, I just changed out an RC II for a supercorsa as I cooked it, and you could definitely see the compound lines. Yours look fine, heaps of life left. I found with mine that even though the tread looked fine it was moving and sliding in the most unsettling way. Great tire but expect degraded performance after a few thousand k's if you like to get on it.

how did you make it last that long ?
Over 5,000 kms now (3,000 miles) and I'm guessing have another 1000kms to go. Mostly two lane highways and back and forth to work. Lots of lean but most miles are on the middle, harder compound of the tire. No track use. Still looks the same as the last pic posted

I will replace them with the same. Great grip and mileage...

First pic when my SFV4S was new with about 20 miles.

Second is at 2,000 miles

At 2,000 miles, not only can the compound lines be seen, but you can feel the lines on the tire as well. The sides seem to have worn faster than the center.

Highway and urban riding only:)

i managed 1500 miles on first rear including first 600 running in and second lasted to 3k which i am just changing now so 1500 out of that one as my riding is all short bursts hard on gas then braking hard round small island. i normally run supercorsa's on my 1299 and on 1098 before that and was expecting sfv4 to come with them but glad it did not as i only got about 750 miles out of an sc2 rear and i have found these rosso corsa 2 very good road tyres and last twice as long for me on mileage and dont find much difference in handling during summer but will see what they are like over winter if we get some good days.
the only thing i am finding in uk is the limited supply of the corsa 2 in the 60 series for streetfighter and price is still quite high.
pic shows brand new corsa 2 ready to fit showing harder compound in centre. one thing i did notice recently is my mate bought a 200/55 series corsa 2 for his tuono v4 and it had a wider strip in the centre of the harder compound ?

Quick update that I am in Canada and rarely do temps go over 25 celsius. I think the lower operating temps help for tire life...

I got almost 6000mi/10.000km out of my last SCv3's when grinding them down to its canvas! ;P

Not intentional, since I left for the Alps with about 2mm left above the side oriented tire wear markers, lazily fooling myself that they would survive another 2500mi/4000km of curvy mountainous roadtrip!
After only 600mi/1000km of 'immer gerade aus' highway mileage the canvas started showing in the centreline of the rear tire and after 5 days of riding very abrasive alpine passes both front and rear were trashed on the sides too.
Luckily Ducati Varese was able to quickly get me a fresh set of the more road focussed RC2's.
