"S" to "R"?

I track my base all the time never had any engine issues other than the top valve cover gasket leaked twice. How the hell did they blow the motor on the bikes? I have seen the motor teared apart before and I must say its built to perform and last. I have even over revved my bike accidentally several times at the track and nothing has happened.

still , some do blow... there seems to be a common agreement in the racing community that the conrods are not good enough. that is why Ducati replaced them with Ti ones on the R...

what makes it more critical is that the conrod is short. so the pressure on it are greater... and it has to push bigger pistons faster

blowing an engine is not something you count down to... like , oh now i hear it coming... one moment you're fine, one nanosecond later you're spitting oil all over...

some further risk is run as many add on fuel systems gain a lot of power form changing the ignition timing. this altered ignition is stuck within the maps coming with the systems... now it seems that the size of the pistons and speed and heat makes uncontrolled combustion with those settings a higher possibility ... that is why even Corse SSTK software does not allow the team to change ignition settings. Rapidbike and such do .... probalby also the reason why D is so adament that adding that kit voids the warranty ...

My .02 I put 2600 miles on my Tricolore last year. I have 2300 miles on the R and it is a month and three weeks old! enough said. the bikes are night and day different. I couldn't come to terms with the Tri, but I love my R!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I haven't been on an 'S' but I absolutely love my 'R'. I would not change anything more on mine except a more adjustable rear set. That will come later.

I haven't had any recurring stalling at all....one time only on an incline that was quite possibly my fault. I also had my CF header heat shield burn but that was because the dealer did not tighten (and Loctite) the screws so it got too close when they came out. Replaced under warranty.

1800 miles so far so I'm no road warrior or regular commuter. As a hobby ride though I couldn't be happier when I get the opportunity to ride it.

Only 1500 miles on the R to date with zero problems and total satisfaction. It's a thrill to ride every time out. For me there isn't anything close.

Concerning the stalling it seems there is a relation with the clutch handle microswitch. There is a small bendable metal piece in that switch. Not sure how I can explain this. When you pull the clutch you will see it hits the bendable metal piece and actuates the switch. We made sure the clutch switch is working a bit earlier then it was. This switch is also important for the engine braking system. It all works together. clutch, switch, engine braking, butterfly opens tiny bit when engine braking system works. No more stalling for me today.

Hope this helps you.

Thanks for the info... I'll look into that.

So, basically open the blade wider so it will trigger sooner, right?
