New member here on the forum. Wanted some suggestions on setting up my 1199r for track only. Main or must have mods, body work, speaking of which I have a set of amour bodies complete set for s1000rr, custom paint, pm me and I will send pics. $400. But any way I need body work! rear sets! and what else ? Just doing track time and may put in for a race or two. I am in Charleston, SC. Anyone here is this area that I could get a referral. Our shop is small and we need a new bigger ducati presence here def. anyways any help would be great.

Thanks:D

Not so many must haves to go fast.. Spend money on setup . Depending on weight , change rear spring to about 5 kg over own weight . If front too soft, add oil or change springs . Don t increase preload . That will change geometry . Decide if you want to go slicks or not .. Changes logistics with stands and warmers .. And just enjoy :)

As noted above, on the R there are few if any must haves for the track. A lot depends on personal preference.

I've put over 2000 track miles on my R over the past year out of a total of 8500 miles so my choices reflect that I ride the same bike both street and track. In fact, I ride mine to the track-I don't own a trailer or truck.

Here's what I've done:

Replaced the stock pegs with LSL pegs. (I find so far that I don't need rearsets--the stock position works fine for me so far--but the stock pegs, while beautiful were far too slippery for me.)

Protection:

Sato Engine Sliders--I've tested these--they are intelligently designed. The bolts bend under stress rather then damage the engine or the mounting points.

Front Axle and Rear Axle Sliders (SpeedyMoto and Sato both make solid ones)

Woodcraft Clutch Cover--Much tougher than the stock item--even with the DP carbon/Kevlar cover. (Lightech now makes some very attractive and tough sliders for both clutch and alternator covers--but I've only seen them in the catalog)

Akrapovich exhaust system (obviously not necessary--but awfully nice!)

I use the stock Pirelli tires (I'm on my third rear and second front). I use SPs and don't use warmers and have had no problems.

I also got rid of the stock mirrors/turn signals.

What level/pace rider are you? That would be the main driver of what changes you'll find "necessary". Experienced racer, new track rider, or ??
