Im sorry then, I thought you were commenting on my incorrect springrate typo. I wrote 90nm when it should have been 9.0nm.

My dealer told me the stock spring is for 75kg weight person. I believe 9.0nm is too weak for your weight...?

75kg is 165lbs. That would seem to be a weak spring for stock. The dealer said the stock spring was a little on the stiff side for my weight @ 205lbs (full gear).

Oh I misread Evols post. So the spring is too heavy, not the other way around. That's a better situation than when I had the 1098. But still not ideal.

Evol no worries bro. You misread, I misread, it happens. There is no emotion within the internet unfortunately.

This hurts my feelings :'(

I believe 9.0nm spring is for around 175lbs

I find the rear stock Ohlins shock a bit on the stiff side for my 178lbs weight.

This is my rear setting
SPORT MODE
Rear Comp: 25
Rear Rebound: 19
This is my street set-up on sport mode.

(The higher the number the softer...lower is stiffer.)

I love the way the bike's rear suspension feels now....better!

Wouldn't touch the spring though...as I find it a bit on the stiff side as it is....

Yeah, I found that info on the Motowheels site for the Ohlins replacement springs. I'm not sure what the stock spring rate is but was told it was still a little stiff for my weight at 195lbs.

Hi all,

Rider Weight (w/o gear) - 85 kg / 187 lbs

Panigale Type ( Base or S) - S

Front Preload (total) - 36 mm (seems okay to me )
Rear Preload (total) - 31 mm (is maybe too low ? better going to 35-39 mm ?)

Front Compression - 14
Front Rebound - 14

Rear Compression - 24
Rear Rebound - 24

Suspension Linkage F or P - P

Rear Shock Length - standard

Riding - Mostly twisties

Additional Changes and Notes
- Softer rear Spring 80 N/mm (PartNo 01092-29/80) instead of 90 N/mm (01092-29/90)
- next step:
playing around with front/rear preload.
front (static ?) sag is actualy 18 mm. I want to try 28-33 mm
rear (static ?) sag is actualy 6 mm. I want to try 10-15 mm

The bike comes with a 9.5nm rear spring, so you may want to go down to the 9.0.

Your front end seems a little low on preload from the general consensus. People shoot for 40mm (total sag, which is static sag plus rider sag), and 30mm rear.

It all does come down to feel though, and what each rider prefers.

Has anyone who extensively tracks theres found good settings? I ran the stock race settings yesterday and they felt ok. I have adjusted my preloads and shock length in addition to the change in geometry from moving the hub due to the larger sprocket. Bike doesn't squat or wheelie as much, I think it's in its perfect spot.

A couple of resources for those of you who want a base to start from when setting up compression/rebound settings:

This article has a picture of the compression/rebound settings that Troy Bayliss left on the bike he set up at Chuckwalla. It probably won't be perfect for you, but maybe at least a starting point.

The settings on this site are the result of a customer having a suspension guy help him set up his bike at Thunderhill Race Way. Again, probably not perfect for you, but a possible good starting point.

I believe both of these are listed on some other thread(s) as well. But now they're both here for your convenience ;)

P.S. In addition, I highly recommend this book. It's a great resource.

Update, weird my S had the Bayliss settings in there already...

AHhaha! The Bayliss settings are the stock Race settings! He didn't adjust .... when he rode it!

Tuned by a well known suspension guy here in Jersey, bike feels more controllable when flicking from left to right and vice versa, bike stays on track without it feeling like it wants to keep diving into the turn, and no longer getting bounced off the rear seat!

My suspension guy dialed mine in stiffer than sport/softer than race and the tire feedback/grip were immediately improved:

200lb Rider w/o gear
Stock preload settings - didn't have to change a thing...at least for the twisties. Tracktime will be a different story.

Front Comp. 12
Front. Rebound 6
Front Sag 42mm

Rear Comp. 16
Rear Rebound 8
Rear Sag 31mm

Im 250lbs without gear, stock spring is too soft...any thoughts on how much higher I should go? I am pretty agressive and ride mostly town to twisties. Thanks in advance for any help!

Don't have my numbers, but I currently have them all jacked up with high numbers. Basically trying to account for the spring that is too stiff for me. I'm 160lbs and dealer called Ohlins and they recommended 8.5 rear, .90 front. Estimate was $730.

Haven't really wanted to spend that so best I can do is soften it up best I can (realizing softer settings is in no way a fix for a spring that is too stiff, but it helps a tad).

Controversially I am of the opinion that the stock suspension is pretty much garbage...this is why I bought the base..with the intention of throwing out the cheaper junk..rather than the more expensive junk... Just my opinion..of course :)
