Any update on the stalling?

I have 150 miles on it now went for a short buzz around the streets last night and exact same thing chugging and stalling? Has anyone taken it to find out the cause yet?

stall and jerking

so i'm on like week 4 w/o my bike dealer had to order the fuel pump . which they haven't seen thinking i'll probably get a call friday
:(

In my experience the bikes don't like that, far better to decelerate with the clutch engaged and only then disengage it when you come to a stop.

So I went for a ride last weekend and was decelerating in gear like you recommended and it stalled anyway. Only once, but it didn't seem to make a difference.

i got a very nice call from ducati north america today seems shipping dropped the ball on my fuel pump . they assured me my pump was next day aired from italy . and they would make it up to me

stall and jerking

so did a 250 mile ride and stopped had breakfast after 75 miles bike was at 2 bars on temp gauge. it started shuttering again like it wanted to die tried adding fuel nothing . pulled in clutch rps dropped down to like 500 but the bike kept running . tried letting the clutch out again and shuttered again and and again like no fuel mind you i'm at 5k in 1st .

Then i pulled in the clutch reved it to 9k and let it drop til i could drop into 2nd and it cleared up . rode it for 150 more miles with even a fuel stop and had no issues .
ive about had it this will be the 4th time to go to the shop for just the fuel problem . 3 times for clutch problems .

I'm sorry to hear that. I'd suggest you call Ducati North America, if you haven't already. You already have their ear and they owe you. Just to clarify, you're only having the stalling issue now? Did you get the clutch issue(s) resolved?

I had mentioned the stalling to my dealership, but it has been very sporadic, so I didn't make a big deal about it. I think that was a mistake, and I'll make sure to make it a priority now.

I just recently had the clutch become a problem. None of the recalled items have been addressed on my bike yet and I'm waiting on an oil cooler it seems, so I need to call tomorrow to check the status.

Let us know what happens, and thanks for keeping us updated. Good luck.

talked to ducati on friday am . they said they needed to talk to my dealer . waiting for a call back now i kinda laid out all the b.s since oi got the bike so we will see

Hey Nitrouz,

Mine did the same thing. I have a V4S model, I came to a red light and had my clutch in when I took off it started jerking or chugging as you mentioned. (As if it were losing power and the engine was choking) anyway, I gave it a rev and it continued to jerk until it finally powered through, but it was not a nice feeling. This is my first Ducati.

I wonder if the fuel tank cap is not venting correctly? Try opening the fuel cap, see if there is a rush of air from negative pressure built up and whether it runs better after venting it.

Are the people here with stalling issues on the 2018 bikes and early 2019 bikes? I've had the stalling issue as well at low speeds. It would sometimes just die on its own with the clutch lever all the way in to the handle bars. But I just assumed it was because of the clutch problem. Maybe someone else with more knowledge of the header issue can chime in, but i was just told from the dealer it was because of ...... welds that would break. And maybe something like that could cause the stalling issue.

I have a PhD in Theory of Ducati Problems because they are so vast and cover so many models in their line up, its not my hobby, it's my second job.

Anyways, my question to all those who have this problem:
Is yours an early model like mine a 2018?
If so, have you had the clutch line AND headers replaced and still had this problem? Or have you not done those two things?

stall and jerking

I know this is kind of an old post to get a reply from, but did you ever resolve this issue?

my SFV4 is facing the issue now and no solutions as of now.

It's my first Ducati, so I guess I'm not much help with the comparisons.

My experience with the stalling has been with the clutch in, coasting while deaccelerating at idle. I think I've had it happen four times in 1000 miles. No chugging, roughness or anything of note, just stalled. After restarting everything is normal.

I'm due for three recalls that I know of (oil cooler, timing chain tensioner and clutch) and will have them check it at that time. I bought my V4S in June, so maybe there was an ecu update for the Akrapovic tune. I'm going to arrange for the second oil change at the same time, so it might be a month or more. I'll be sure to post if I receive any information as to why the stalling is happening.

aftermarket tune fixed it for my bike. Hasnt stalled once since in the past 10 months/5k miles, and 17 track days.

On my first ride of this season in May after being winterized with stabilizer last year(Oct) , it did exactly the same ….stalling …wanting to shut off during idle and it even stalled twice on the road …once even on the freeway but luckily I was in right lane and was aware of the issue .Immediately clutch in and start button ,it fired up right away.Every time it stalled ,it would start the first time with minimal effort .Took it to the dealer and they hooked it to the computer but couldn’t find any error codes.Hasn’t stalled since and I’ve put 5500 kms since then .Bike has Ducati Akrapovic slip ons with the Racing map done by the Ducati dealer .

Maybe bad fuel or something to do with stabilizer ?Anyway I’ll get new stabilizer this season (different brand) and see

May I add something else here? I’m noticing strong fuel smell in the garage after riding the bike hard ?Is it normal or a known issue with these bikes? If I leave the bike outside for sometime and then bring it in ,it’s much better.

This stalling issue happened to me from day 1 off the dealer lot. Tune resolved it.

Probably because you don’t have the evap canister anymore. The akrapovic exhaust kit removes it.
