I am sure this virus thingy is effecting everyone to some extent. They have instituted "stay at home" orders in many states now. Not sure how this is helping. This is live air traffic over the US as of 5 min ago

Air traffic may seem high but the planes are almost empty. My brother-in-law flew yesterday (work mandate) and had 6 other passengers on his flight to Salt Lake, and 8 on the way back.

Hope everyone is staying safe and all families are healthy!
 
I just landed in ACY from RSW. A few masks on the plane but everyone was on best behavior, not a single person coughed or sneezed.

Reports claim front line US medical staff are grossly under-equipped with PPE, some only be issued with face masks once a week and having to re-use them and sanitize them. The real difference in reducing the death toll is social distancing and self-isolation to flatten the curve and try and keep the rising number of Covid-9 cases below your nations total capacity to treat huge numbers of cases and not be overwhelmed.

Italy is in dire straights. Their mortality rates have spiralled and as of today, they are averaging one death every 2 mins. It is going to get a lot worse before it gets better.
 
meanwhile in SoCal, our "stay home" "guidelines" are a bit ambiguous. Pacific Coast Hwy was a zoo. Looked like a normal Saturday mid summer. Girls in bikinis, bikes everywhere. The Government said I should get outside and ride my bike. I thin he meant bicycle but if you’re not going to specify then I wont be picky. Italy is a bad situation however I believe the co-morbidity factor in the death rate there is almost 100%. If the "old" flew or influenza had hit those elderly people, outcomes I would believe have been similar.The last place you want to be is near a hospital or clinic which unfortunately, a metric .... ton of people who dont have the virus are hanging out thinking they do. Thats what is overwhelming our system. Be vigilant but damn the media and bad information is tanking our country.. I like how the media neglected to include numbers for people who have recovered from the virus and who have the antibodies present.Why? because they don't have a flippin clue. If you are going to state numbers and statistics at leas give a full spread.

Yeah our roads are light on traffic but I’m out there riding around.
their rules don’t apply to me... I even took off my plate so i don’t have to pull over for them.

Europe is doubtless a few weeks ahead of the US in terms of transmission rates and mortality but when you see things like this, you wonder just how much Donald is playing things down as opposed to preparing and properly informing a nation of what to expect and the reality and enormity of what could be a very long and costly recovery both in terms of the number of lives lost and the economy. This is not a virus that respects sound bites or political rhetoric, regardless of where in the world you live.

I would like to think most people are broadminded enough to know when they are being drip fed information by their nation's government, but as is amply demonstrated by people's naivety to the severity of this worsening crisis, it beggars belief that they are not held accountable for glossing over the cracks and endangering people's lives as a consequence. Russia being a prime example.

there was the idea that the first batch of “test kits” were Giving 80% false positives. Idk if that was fake news or not but if that statement is correct, Almost EVERYONE tested would be positive and then the FAKE NEWS could run with their “world is ending” story,

I agree with you in part but it's not so much about responsible people looking out for themselves but the remainder who simply don't understand the potential risk they pose to others by "carrying on as normal" For the minority in any society, unless they are part of the solution, they are part of the problem. Once social care and the health services are overwhelmed with cases of people who have been infected by those who could have socially distanced themselves or self-isolated, thereby transmitting the disease to others, then we are all in the .....
 
Reality bites, sometimes it has to smash you in the face. We all obey the laws of physics as riders, cant escape the fact that meatbag at 300km meeting solid object = death.
This pandemic is here, all that we need to decide is what we are going to do to either avoid transmitting it or getting it.

I dont care for the blase dismissal of old people, thinning the herd rhetoric that is out there in some circles, that is classic national socialist party eugenics. The fact is that a lot of people will die who would have lived, this is huge and its a time to reflect on what it means to be a human being.
