Just delete the post. The post was originally just a representation of a somewhat contradictory “quarantine” scenario put in place in the US.

Dude I don't place my fate in any politician, I came to this great country as a refugee from civil war torn country...!
I might pay you to read your own last post and if you can still see with your own eyes and think with your own head you will see tone and direction of it.
You live in ....... UK what the .... do you know what is going on in the US!? You have MONUMENTAL problems in your own country, why don't you focus on cleaning your own backyard before you attempt to accuse someone of not taking care of his own!!!

I'm glad you've found a safer haven in which to live. Half of my family were refugees from the Arab/Israeli war. I sought an opinion (not necessarily exclusively yours) on Trump's decision to potentially lift self-isolation restrictions by Easter, when Covid-19 cases numbers are still rising (notably in New York City) in favour of economic priorities and not wishing to jeopardize his forthcoming re-election campaign due to the massive financial fallout. You are quite correct, it is a MONUMENTAL .... storm here, however you may (or perhaps not) be aware that as of today, 25% of the world's population is currently under some form of lock-down, 1.3 billion citizens in India as of yesterday, pretty much their entire population. More countries are joining suit. Italy has just topped 7500 deaths and is looking to extend restrictions for many more weeks to come. The rate at which this virus spreads is unprecedented. I, as others, are curious to know, on what basis Trump feels it appropriate to lift restrictions by Easter Sunday, when a quarter of the globe would strongly disagree with him, given the speed at which this virus takes hold, if left unchecked.

Despite the measures that have been put in place, globally outside the US, the death toll continues to rise and as is being borne out, is slow to show any signs of abating. However mortality rates ARE just beginning to decrease in certain countries, but only by a fractional amount, but it is a given that to relax the measures now would be catastrophic, until a sustained improvement and NO new cases were evident. Antibody kits and Gen2 live viral testing are making massive progress in terms of availability and efficacy testing in the UK and Europe, that will allow asymptomatic individuals to return to work as well as those recovering from Covid-19 and to quickly identify, contact trace and isolate any infected future cases amongst the remaining population. Sadly, despite Trump's optimism of a "beautiful timeline", this virus will not respect state borders, no matter what people are led to believe, even under strict containment. What statewide and ideally nationwide lockdown measures DO and ARE achieving is to buy the healthcare system time, else they will drown under the sheer volume of in-patients and have to make (as is being seen in Italy, Spain and now France), the difficult choice of who to save and who they can't. As of today there are 64,683 cases in the US and 908 fatalities. That's a rise of over 10,000 new cases since yesterday and an additional 133 deaths. The day before there were 225 deaths in the US. It's not difficult to see that these figures will increase, slowly at first then exponentially, as they have everywhere else in the world where you've had freedom of movement and had been slow to react. If you wish to explain your take on Trump's logic by clarifying his reasoning, despite all that is unfolding around him, then I am all ears.

I absolutely agree with you, but when someone at this trying times for EVERYONE comes up with political stabs is ultimate stupidity and it has to be addressed. Politics and political views should not be even on last page of anyone's agenda at this moment, BUT there is always one or two...

Incidentally you're quite right, these are trying times for EVERYONE, yourselves included, but based on the developing situation elsewhere in the world, which is inescapable from the attention of all, unless they are living under a rock, political views, the decisions being made and the effects they will have on millions of people as a result, are very much on the agenda right now. If you'd rather gloss over it, that 's entirely your choice.

Reports claim front line US medical staff are grossly under-equipped with PPE, some only be issued with face masks once a week and having to re-use them and sanitize them. The real difference in reducing the death toll is social distancing and self-isolation to flatten the curve and try and keep the rising number of Covid-9 cases below your nations total capacity to treat huge numbers of cases and not be overwhelmed.

Italy is in dire straights. Their mortality rates have spiralled and as of today, they are averaging one death every 2 mins. It is going to get a lot worse before it gets better.

Correct, its horrendous, I’m in UK and we’re locked down, cases rising like crazy.

I understand New York and other major US cities are really bad way too...

919 people died in Italy TODAY, insane.

I’d like to think the collective power of the worlds scientific community come together with an effective mass produced vaccination sooner rather than later.

Time to put aside petty differences so we can all be safe and get back out on our bikes again...

Currently my V4 isn’t very important.

You need to get off the numbers. The more you test, the higher the numbers are going to be, they are testing more people every day so of course the numbers are going to go up every day. I can make the global numbers plummet easily, don’t test anyone tomorrow, I guarantee the numbers go down. The only numbers that matter are the antibody positive numbers which show who has had and beaten the flu. If your going to use positive test as a quarantine tool, fine but keep it off the news. Shouting the numbers to the world doesn’t do anyone any good except the media.

I was reading a story abt 85% of the original batch of tests showing false positives. Coulda been a hell of a way for the media to paralyze the world into submission if they were allowed to go through with it

Rode today, looks like any other day Ducati NB is open and the parking lot was full of cars. Most parking lots had cars and the busy roads were busy. Pretty simple. This thing is going to be life altering to some and barely a nuisance to others. Living in downtown NYC, working a min wage job and taking public transit is going to be different than living in rural washing state, financially secure, stocked up on supplies and off the grid. Def wouldn’t want to be in a large city.

Nationwide testing of all front line nurses, doctors and social care workers begins this weekend in the UK (around 3.5 million it is being reported), to allow those who are uninfected to come out of isolation (if they were suspected of having the virus) and return to work, assuming they test negative. Antibody tests are a few weeks away yet. Again priority will be to health care workers first, then key workers after that, before they begin to roll out to the general public. The hope is the antibody tests will allow a slow but gradual increase in the number of asymptomatic and recovered individuals to resume their normal lives and jobs, if they no longer present a threat to others or themselves. The only issue is that it is still unknown how long immunity lasts or if in time the virus mutates before we can keep a lid on it and risk re-infection. The only long term solution is a vaccine but as we all know, that is a long way off being ready. Lockdowns in Europe are set to be extended by three weeks in places, Spain possibly looking at at least five weeks. For many nations, it might be a case of closing the stable door after the horse has bolted but each have to deal with their own unique set of problems and take into account the infrastructure of their health care and welfare system and their economic sustainability as thousands of businesses and the staff who support them grind to a halt. I still find it hard to comprehend how India with a population of 1.3 billion people, has managed to enforce a nationwide lockdown, but for now it seems their best option, as they simply don't have the required resources at the scale needed, to deal with a massive surge in patients requiring urgent medical attention or intubation. We all have to hope that we come out the other side of this pandemic with as little collateral damage, in terms of lives lost and a battered economy, as possible.
