Stolen from Motocorsa in Portland

If you have pics or good descriptions of the unique parts, post them up. I'm sure many here are like me and always looking for cool/useful items almost daily

Hope you didn’t do this. If you have unique parts. Why tell everyone. The thief may find out what not to sell.

He had a used bike stolen. No dealer in their right mind, insurance claim or not will replace with the latest version of the stolen bike. What planet are you guys living on making such ridiculous n unrealistic suggestions? He's already gonna get a brand new bike. That's already good enough.

That’s not true, and he had 45k invested. Replacement value should be more than new.

Unless he updated his policy to cover the nice parts he added, the insurance company will not cover them. They don’t have to, as he was not paying the insurance company up front to cover that loss. If you have a modded bike or car, you better have a list of all of it and let the insurance company know about it.

Do you really think thieves are coming to this little corner of the internet to see if a bike they boosted has had part pics/description posted? If they knew enough to steal a Ducati, they probably already know which parts are customized.

The key was not taken. It was wheeled away with a new V2. They found the V2 the next day a couple of blocks away. (They knew it was gone because they inventoried their merchandise) Two helmets were also stolen.
I have receipts for everything. They are replacing the bike and say that they are going to replace the parts as well. They will be eating the labor. Granted, nothing is in writing yet but they seem to want to make right. The former GM Jason has been demoted and Shahin is the new GM.
There were some mods to mine that were unique and I have been looking at Craigslist all over the country, at Letgo, at offerup, and on eBay but not a single piece has shown up. I firmly believe that it is still sitting complete (or nearly) in some garage somewhere.
Please keep an eye out! This was my dream bike.

That’s good to hear they are getting process started on your replacement. Nothing worse than a dealer/service shop trying to pawn the fault everywhere but where it actually lies. Due to your bike being there, they should have insurance, I think it’s called Garage Keepers insurance, and that is coverage a deciliter should carry due to the responsibility being transferred from the owner to the facility upon drop off.

I’ve spoken with MotoCorsa occasionally, and they seem like a very stand up facility.

I don’t know, I have zero idea, we simply never know.

Now I will say this. If my 1299 was stolen, I would not want it back or recovered, especially if it wasn’t my Ins paying for the replacement. I’d want it to stay stolen and would let them buy me a brand new bike or at least pay me retail value for my 1299.

So maybe I wouldn’t mind letting the thief know what not to try and sell.

Well I have all the receipts, I have spoken to a lawyer, Motocorsa is attempting to make right, and I just got a call from their insurance company with an appraisal of $24,000. That’s laughable. Now that they have put out a number it will be interesting to see what Motocorsa actually does. I’m not taking a $21,000 loss on this bike. It wasn’t for sale. It wasn’t stolen from my property. And it damn sure wouldn’t have taken me 88 hours to notice it missing.

Its besides the point what market value is, it is about replacing like with like. If you tried to sell it (which is not the case here) then its probably not far off 24k. Since when do we sell bikes for what we paid plus retail on all the upgrades?
As soon as you ride away its 20% and goes down from there and upgrades don't necessarily add a lot of value.

I could see a 20% depreciation to be fair if it were an accident or if it were stolen from my property. This is a different circumstance. I believe that my upgrades certainly added quite a bit of value. The exhaust, (full system), the rear sets, the 520 conversion, the DTC Evo2 upgrade, all the carbon...even without all the "little mods" are still value adders. There is no way this is worth only $24k as it sat. A used V4S is still going to run you at least $20k bone stock.

Its fully worth what it cost you to replace because through no fault of yours its gone, the very good news is that its their insurance which means they pretty much have no option. The only haggling might be over a bit of wear and tear, that said a 2019 bike is a year newer and thats got to be worth 10% on the '18 teething model.

Did I mention you're getting brand new bike:cool:!!

Oh, the dealership has to make you whole. You left it in their care. The 24k is to the dealership. The dealer needs to dig in his pocket and come up with the other 21k. Sucks to be them but they better do something.

You should not have to dig into your pocket for a penny to replace your cycle.

They are negotiating with the insurance company. I will find out more soon hopefully. $24k is a low ball offer by the insurance company. Ultimately they will have to either write off all their labor and eat the cost of parts, bike, whatever, but I have zero intention of paying to replace what I trusted in their care.

I agree, hire a lawyer to at least protect yourself and let the lawyer deal with the dealer. I think it would be worth paying the attorney fees. This is likely going to draw out at least a little. You don't want to be making emotional judgments and decisions. A lawyer will not be emotionally evolved, you 100% are
