I agree, hire a lawyer to at least protect yourself and let the lawyer deal with the dealer. I think it would be worth paying the attorney fees. This is likely going to draw out at least a little. You don't want to be making emotional judgments and decisions. A lawyer will not be emotionally evolved, you 100% are

Dont know how it works in the states but unless you are uninsured usually you go to your own broker and make a claim as they are underwriting your loss never mind the other company has cover. Insurance companies do deals with each other all the time over claims, swings and roundabouts. If you claim then your insured value is x and that is what you will get- then your insurance will get the $$ of the shops insurer. What you are hoping for is that you wont have to make a claim and their cover will restore your loss 100%. Good luck with that, without knowing the details of the two policies its the shop that will have to cough up for the difference out of their pocket and their goodwill. The shop providing a new bike is a great start.

My take is that your insurance goes after their insurance the same as if someone ran into you
Sort of...except for their negligence, duty to protect my possessions that they are entrusted with, depriving me of the opportunity to mitigate my damages, etc. They have filed a claim with their insurance company for my motorcycle. There is no reason to involve my insurance.

I have consulted with a lawyer. That was one of the first things I did. He gave me good advice. At this point the dealer has stated that they are going to replace my bike and purchase/install all the parts I had on it. If that happens, then we go on with our lives and I continue to be a happy customer. No reason to release the hounds of hell...yet.

We all waiting to hear what happened.

No new news to report yet. I promise to keep you all updated, good or bad. If your bike isn’t safe with the dealer you purchased it from, where is it safe?

The Corse painted Farings came from:
www.motoxpricambi.com/us
Their street Farings are actual Ducati OEM ABS Farings that they paint. So they fit perfect. They don't paint your tank though so you have to get that done separately. I paid about $1700 for a complete set of Farings from them. (Shipped)

I had to have the tank painted to match my new scheme and had it done by Eddie Slepika in Beaverton, OR. He is the one who painted this bike you may remember:

If you haven't seen these Farings in person, they are incredible. Not one sticker or decal. All graphics are hand painted.
I paid Eddie $2000 to paint match the tank and to respray a couple of parts on the Farings that weren't quite perfect. His work is unbelievable and worth every penny.

So including misc. bits and pieces, to have everything painted up you would be looking at about $3800 for the Corse scheme. If you had Eddie paint your OEM Farings to match the Factory Corse you would be looking at somewhere between $5000-$8000. All graphics would be hand painted of course.

Update. Motocorsa is replacing my bike with a new 2019 V4S. They are also replacing all the parts that I have on my parts list and covering the labor. Their insurance companies actual cash value appraised my bike at $24,600. I have over $45k into it with receipts and pictures. They are taking a hit on this but doing the right thing. Their new GM, Shahin Alvandi, has been extremely easy to deal with and honest. I think that Motocorsa is in good hands with him. I'll keep updating you guys as this comes along. I have what they are doing in writing (Helps avoid confusion) and they started work on it yesterday. Looking forward to riding my Ducati again. I expect it will take over a month to get everything together and build it up. I do love the winglets on the 2020 bikes but love the slimmer look of the '18-'19. I am pleased.

Well I am currently chasing a helicopter all over the western US right now so I don't need a loaner bike. I have a couple Harley's, but they aren't quite as fast haha. Motocorsa offered me a loaner whenever I want one. They really are handling this right. Sad to say that I am surprised, but I am. I think Shahin is ushering in a new era at Motocorsa and I'm happy to see it.

I’m a helicopter mechanic by trade. I also drive the fuel truck. We fight fires. I’ve been in 8 states in the last 5 weeks.

Update: 08/31/2020

Motocorsa is still working on building my bike. All the parts have been ordered, details have been ironed out, and work is underway. If you've seen the 2019 Nicky Hayden Tribute V4 then you have an idea about what my bike will be.

See here: nicky-hayden-ducati-panigale-v4-tribute-bike-motocorsa

I've always been a fan of The Kentucky Kid. It was a shame and a big loss when he died. When I first saw the bike that Motocorsa built, I was blown away by the livery. There were several things I didn't like, and apparently I wasn't alone because the bike never sold. I came to an agreement with Motocorsa to purchase the Farings, engraved triple clamp, and fuel tank from them to be installed on my new bike. My new bike will be the new Nicky Hayden Tribute bike, and will be what I feel it should have been all along.

It will be a V4S, it will have the 520 superlite conversion, the track DTC Evo2 ECU flash, full Akra system, Desmoworld clear clutch cover with gold spinner, Futurismoto tail tidy and mirror block-offs, Rizoma and Ducati Performance bits hanging all over it, Custom embroidered Luimoto seat cover, Bonamici rear sets and levers, and it will have the sweet looking Rotobox Bullet carbon fiber wheels. There is a long list of other custom parts and details and I have a friend who is going to help me create a YouTube video of it once it's done so you can all check it out.

Shahin Alvandi, the new GM at Motocorsa, has kept me updated on a weekly basis, been totally transparent, and going to the dealership has become what it always should have been when I first bought my new 2018 V4S. Tomorrow marks 3 months since my bike was stolen from the dealership. I'm probably looking at another month before everything is wrapped up.

As an aside, my new bike was "sold" to me and I signed the papers on July 30, 2020...Nicky Hayden's 39th birthday. Also, it will have an awesome custom Nicky Hayden themed license plate (to be revealed later) and Eddie Slepika, owner of Bent Metal Customs in Beaverton, Or (You can find him on Facebook) was the painter of these Farings. Interestingly, he was the one who painted the tank on the last bike I had.

This has been a very stressful process, no lie, and topping it off with being out on the road working on the helicopter for the last 2 1/2 months (with a few more weeks to go) hasn't made it much easier.

I'll report back when I have another update. Thanks for reading.

Everything happens for a reason, glad to hear things are looking up. Don’t stress and the rest will follow.
