Ok, so we weighed one out of the crate with no fuel. 366 lbs. That's unspeakably, horrifically, insanely, unbelievably light!!! A bone stock 899 out of the crate weighs 417 on those same scales!

Wow, you had time for GLAMOUR shots!!! I had to snap quickies with my cell phone and then get back to the flood of customers on the floor today! :D:D:D:D:D

Main reason why I'm a Ducati fan, I like that they push the limits and sell some of the most extreme production bikes ever. Everyone else seems to play it safe with more conservative designs.

Yeah, I'm with you. I liked them better when they were shown with a different color. Less gold, more titanium colored, like the spring.

They're basically magnesium with clear-coat on them, it's a raw magnesium color, just like many of the larger bolts on the bike. Some other bolts are titanium, which is more shiny and silver colored. The shock spring is a sand-blasted matte titanium. I'm not sure there's a steel bolt anywhere on the bike, even the little ones that you wouldn't think would matter are still titanium, such as the pinch bolts on the master cylinders, etc. The little tiny fairing bolts are torx-head magnesium bolts. This is nuts, I just stand here looking at the little details going "Duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.................." Homer Simpson style...... ;)

What does the 1199 weigh for reference?

Pretty much everything one could possibly hope for, in a factory attempt to make the equivalent of a knockout punch to the rest of the manufacturers.

I think it has achieved it's design goals and market objectives:)

@Jarel - what's in the box strapped to the right hand side of the shipping cage next to the rear wheel?
