For those of you that upgraded from stock to full Termignonis, is it just deeper sounding or is it louder too? It is hard to tell from the videos, most just sound deeper, but it could just be mic auto leveling. I am asking as I am happy with the volume, but wouldn't mind a bit lower tone.

Thanks in advance.

Can't tell if it's louder since I had it installed before I took delivery of my bike. I think it has a lower rumble. To me, the design of it actually makes it sound louder to the rider as opposed to say people walking down the street since the exhaust port is right under you.

The full Termi kit is louder than the stock exhaust, by 3db-5db I believe (baffles removed).

Loud is not how I would describe it. The stock exhaust makes some great noise but it lacks depth. The full Termi's sound as a Ducati should. But I still think the 1198 sounds better! Lol

Baffles? What baffles??? Throw em away!

With baffles in, I think they sound nearly identical Db wise, just a bit different or better depending on who you ask. I have OEM, a buddy I rode with has Termi/baffled, can hardly tell a difference.

I think sometimes its a subjective opinion and hard to quantify unless you measure.

Someone on here once said that his bike was louder with the flapper valve disconnected.

I used a sound meter to measure this and found no difference (except of course when it was closed)

Disconnected or connected it was still the same exhaust and obviously the guy was just hearing what he wanted to hear.

The only way to know is to get two bikes and compare back to back with the same sound measuring equipment.

Good Man

Love your mindset on this one. Cant get over some folks being told by dealers that they need to wait until first service before even mounting the Slip ons- or the full system to their bike! UNREAL

I've been struggling with this same decision since day one and still can't make up my mind. :) I have another bike with termis and have owned monsters with them in the past and on those bikes it went from "yeah this is ok" to "OMG what the hell was that 4 blocks away". This one, not so much so. It's a slight difference so to me I am still on the fence about whether or not it is worth the money since I don't need the small performance gains. It's all about the sound for me.

Performance and sound... Yes, on the 1199 it's not such a clear / cut choice. The other factor for me was "Termi envy"... I'd see other 1199's. Some with Termi's and some without. Termi's are so much better looking than the stock cans. And let's not forget they don't have the exhaust valve nor the cat! Oh, and the poser factor of the "Racing Evo" that shows on the dash when you hit the key? Priceless... My riding buddies will ask, "what's that mean"? And I tell them, it means fast! It means 50 more hp! They say, but why are you so slow? Errr... Ehhh... ;)

I was on the fence as well but my service manager knew I had Termi envy... She called me when the bike was in for service. She said that since the bike was partially dissaembled that she'd have em installed for the cost of the parts alone. No labor. I was like, crap! I have to get em now don't I? And she confirmed that I *had* to! So I did and no longer have Termi envy!

Did the same on my Pikes Peak but in that case had the Termi can cut to a third it's original length. The difference on that bike is night and day. I love the raspy sound of a Harley with loud exhaust. And now on my Pikes I no longer have loud Harley sound envy! LOL

I agree on the looks perspective. They do look nicer than the stock cans.

Ive wanted the full system for a while!!!thanks to this forum I may have it by COB tomorrow :D....well once they sort out the starter problem. This unfortunately meant it took a ride on the back of a truck this morning to my dealer???? Italians eh.......on the plus side it should come out the termi manifolds fitted :D

For me, I'd sum it up sound wise as more of a complete sounding exhaust, more depth, more bass, more balance whereas yes, the stock system is loud and nasty but with more treble than bass and thus less balanced than the termi setup IMO.

The Full Termis are also much hotter. Something to take into consideration. I have the original heat shield.

I think anyone trying to get the classic sound will be a bit dissapointed. My mate's ST4 with DP carbon pipes sound better, even the cafe ownser's 1200 Monster with Termis. Sorry but sound is not this bikes strong suit IMHO. The only place it excels is at high revs where no old ducati could reach and then the sound is quite unique.

Unhooking the flapper valve on the stock exhaust pretty much has the same effect, except it took 30 seconds and I didn't spend $4,000.

If that's how you want to rationalize your choice, but no. The slip-ons made large different, and the full only slightly deepened the tone due to the increased diameter of the headers.

Here in OZ, it has been put in writing to the dealers from DUCATI that they frown upon the practice of fitting the Termi's before the first service.
It was reiterated at the release of the 1199.

I would assume that DUCATI has their reasons for it. Actually I can think of 3 just off the top of my head.
Seeing as DUCATI know more about their bikes than all of us put together, i'd be inclined to go along with whatever they recommend.
That includes running them in.
