Termi question

Ducati Forum

Help Support Ducati Forum:

do the termi slips also ditch the cat or just the full system?

The cats are removed via replacing the end cans. Said another way, the catalytic converters are housed inside the stock end cans and will be removed via the installation of either the Termi slip-on or full system. ;)

That and the fact that you get a "pop" when you shift up with the termis is what sold me lol.... Some good deals to be had on fleabay if your patient.

I own a Ducati, I have no patience...

I am ASSuming the FULL Termi system has no flapper valve or Servo motor correct:confused:
( I get my bike in 2 weeks, so I want to make sure those things are eliminated if they come standard on a FULL Termi system

Correct.... Even slip ons disconnect that dumb thing...:)

Weigh the full Termi before the install... Heck you don't even have to weigh it, it's a tiny box that you can throw around. Just "feel" the weight. You're gonna wonder if there is a second box to the kit.

When they take the stock cans, hold just the cans. The stock cans weigh more than the entire Termi full kit. Granted it houses the cat but that's the point right? Lighter=faster?

When I hear things like, "The full Termis don't make as much power as they should... look at the dyno sheet" I laugh and think about the weight savings and what that means on the road. That is something that can not be measured on a dyno. I also hear "$3500 is not worth it". That is entirely subjective. I think it's worth every penny.

Same is true with other alternative full systems.

Would love to try the Akra next but holding back until I figure out what to do about the tune when the Termis are removed.

One more thing...

If you're considering buying the Termi and don't own an 1199 yet, then go for the R. It's an awesome value considering everything you get for the price.

I wish they had the R from the start. I would have saved so much money on the accessories that I bought for the S, including the full Termi! All together, I spent more than the cost of the R.

I'm hoping some Termi owners can give me some advice on a couple of questions I have.
I've managed to get my hands on a "previously loved" full system, or at least it's on the way. :)
First issue is there's no 'up map key'. Does anyone know if I can get around this with a set up like tuneboy (which I'm hoping to get anyway) etc. Are the o2 sensors retained with the full system ? If not, do you get a fault message on the dash ? Is that part of what the 'upmap' sorts out ?
I should mention that in the photo's I've seen there are o2's and wiring loom's on the system. Will know more when it get's here. I don't recall seeing this set up on any of the advert photo's.

36 years of 'Biking' and I feel I'm starting out all over again  I grew up with needles and jets. I'm hoping some of you young un's can put me on the right track (well not necessarily young anyone with more than the 2 functioning brain cells I seem to have left, I don't mind the getting old bit so much, bit's falling off or the like, it's the confusion that get's me ) Carbs and PC3 sorted injection seem so easy, sometimes I wish I could go back, then I go for a blast or lap and I forget all that nonsense. (man I just love this ....... bike :D)
Any help would be really appreciated.

I installed the full Termi headers after I had driven about 6000 miles with only the Termi slip-ons (Tricolore). When I put the full headers on, it got slightly deeper sounding, but otherwise no big change from the slip-ons. I have removed the baffles from the Termi slip-ons and it got a bit louder than with them in, and more bass in the tone, but if you stay out of the throttle, the neighbors don't seem to care.

Full Termi's were installed on my 1199S before I put any miles on the bike. The same with the Diavel I bought prior to that.

Answer: Yes - but I recommend you Dyno tune and develop the map if you go that route. I have heard from Dyno Jet in Las Vegas and Bazazz in Chino that you cannot get a better map for the Termi Full System than what Ducati and Termi have developed (Based on no other engine mods). But for Stock you can improve the A/F ratio greatly because maps are set to meet the EPA standards.

"Are the o2 sensors retained with the full system ?"
Answer: yes

My bike is coming out of the shop with full system installed - not interested in stock :) I also ride with ear plugs anyway (have for 40years) so level doesnt bother me heheh

The Full Termis are also much hotter. Something to take into consideration. I have the original heat shield.

I received my bike with the "upgraded heat shield'', needless to say I dislike it.

Where did you source a ''old design'' carbon fiber one?

Thanks
Alex
