The Big Picture on Sprocket Changes

Thanks Gunny for the write-up. I have a some questions for the group.

For spockets and flanges/hubs- AEM, STM, AFAM, Driven, CNC. Any benefit of one over the other?

Is our stock chain 525? If I change to 520 set up then I have to change the front sprocket since the chain is a different width, correct? It's my understanding that a 525 chain is stronger than 520 and also lighter. Is the decreased rotating mass of a 520 set up a noticeable improvement or should I be more concerned with strength? I'm not racing.

I want to change to the 41t rear sprocket and these are what I see as my choices.
Option 1: Keep stock front sprocket. New rear sprocket and longer 525 chain. +/- new hub/flange and bolts.

Option 2: 520 set-up with new 41t rear and 15t front sprocket, hub/flange, bolts and 520 chain.

I like to use either Dan Kyle or Jarel from Ducati Omaha who I think is a member here have always given me great service and price on chain and sprockets .

Right on on Jarel.

I vote for Jarel or your local dealer if they are cool and they will work with you.

I would do option 2. I have the 520, lighter and rated for 1200cc, so more than enough. I saved 7lbs going to the AFAM setup. I now have 14/39. The cheapest way (and still good), just take the 41 from Ducati.

Anyone have the torque data for front sprocket and rear bushings? Just going to have the dealer do it, I still can't get my own rear nut off. HA HA ;)

NVM got it!

To each their own on whatever way they want to change. After all, it can always be reversed to go the other way if you have the money. EVeryone differs on opinion and has something that works great for them I am sure.

Thus why the QC sprocket. Whatever you do, get a quick change so you can play with sprocket sizes.

I'll be changing my rear sprocket for the 41 with 525 chain and 15 in the front.
I know the new chain will need to be cut to length. Anyone with this combination can tell me how many links in his chain ???

Thanks !!!

Buy at least the 110 link chain and let your dealer cut it appropriately.

Hey guys, found out from the dealer the deal with the new "sprocket map". It does nothing for fueling, it is in reference to new TCS/ABS parameters for the increased sprocket size.

Going to get it done regardless and be careful. I've never run without race mode, so rear wheel ABS is a none-issue. TCS, maybe a lil' rarely kicks in.

My dealer was a little leary about the Aluminum sprocket... Understandably, but my race bike has an AL and it's fine. Thinking about ordering a SS one just in case it gets chewed up really fast. Thoughts?

Decided no SS for now.
