The Big Picture on Sprocket Changes

Your chain is 525 right ???
Its 2 more links than the factory config (15/39)

Thanks a lot !!!

Chain is 520.

Yes, two more links. Stock is 104 links.

The following was measured with a tape measure against the stock #'s, the 15/41 106 link setup is approx. 8mm longer and it also will put the rear end about 4mm taller.

I have tested the bike twice now on the track and it was hard to handle the wheelies at WOT already. I can't wait to climb on top of this beast with the new gearing!

Wanted to add, characteristics changed for the better, even my MPG went up.

On the bad side, the roll-on wheelie now eludes me. (Trying not to endo >.>.)

How to Instructions

Another quick question, how easy is it to change the rear sprocket?

Looks like you don't need to remove the wheel, so is it just a case of removing the 6x nuts, or do you need to remove the wheel nut?

Good News Coming!!

Just wanted to prepare all members for some fantastic new info from one of the most reknown aftermarket Ducati part suppliers in the market on the entire sprocket, carrier, flange and chain topic.

Also may have some surprising news for all on an addition to their staff who will be reaching out to the membership for support and sales. Any military associated member should start making their wish list as well because they are extremely appreciative to those who have worn a uniform in defense of this country (US)!

Stay tuned for a thread announcing this news in a few weeks. Until then stay safe out there!

Gunny out............

Guess I missed out :(.

Sorry to revive the thread. But I was hoping you could clear up a bit for me. You stated, "I have noticed a very obvious torque gain (or low end grunt) which makes very low speed drivability much more user friendly." I'm just curious as those two seem a bit contradicting to me. I am a pure road rider for mountain curves and commute, so my goal is smooth low to mid speed. So I'm considering the sprocket change, but I'm concerned I'm actually working against myself if it will have more torque, which I equate to a less "smooth" low speed ride. So what you do you mean by more user friendly at very low speeds?

My suspicion is that since I'm quite happy with the power and just want it smooth, the new mapping will help if it will quit snowing and I can get it uploaded and I really don't need the sprocket change. I hate to say it but I don't want to over power it at the cost of smooth road riding.

Hmm. Actually this is a very good observation and job well done Rick! My advice to ya on this is to first see how you like the way the bike runs after your update and then determine if you would benefit from more low end "grunt", said the Grunt! Lol.

Would be anxious to hear your feedback after it is done and how that worked out for you man. And lastly, dont ever apologize for bringing a thread back to life to address a legitimate observation my friend. Its those who get their balls all twisted when they disagree with something so much due to what their own personal opinion is, those are the toolbags who are better off saying absolutely nothing at all. Know what I mean?

Great points Denver! Thanks!

Very good point. The latest map smoothed out all the 2-3k rpm hesitancies, so this could indeed be a side effect.

I guess that unless you have a totally linear delivery, this is always gonna be an issue to some extent - particularly with a twin, no matter if it thinks it's a would be v4..... but then thats character, rather than riding an i4 turbine
