How many of you came from another generation of Ducati Superbike before Panigale? Do you still have a previous generation 916,999,1098,etc?

Do you plan to upgrade when the next generation of Ducati Superbikes comes out or are you satisfied with the Panigale?

this is my 3rd Panigale, as much as i love it, it is about the forefront tech that this amazing bike can deliver, not something i wanna keep when the better one is out
if i can get a Desmo, then that is a keeper

3rd one? Wow they've only been out since 2012. Did you move up each time and change models from base, S, to R?

I've had a 749R and a 1098R. Loved both. After about 5 or 6 years I get bored and want to try the latest and greatest. The 1299 wasn't enough of a change for me plus I've only had my Tri for 21 months, so I am good for another 3 years or so. Should be interesting as usual by 2018-2019.

Way back, I had a 998R which I loved, but it was as comfortable as a barbed-wire jockstrap...

I did it in this order:
Cagiva Mito 125
Ducati 748S
Ducati 996S
Panigale 1199S

To this day I still miss the Cagiva, and the 996S got destroyed at the track (went flying like 30 feet in the air).

I still dream of owning an unmolested 998 one day.

Had 2 1199's now, I use a Stock but Brutal 1098R as a Track Bike. Never wanted to do the internal upgrades as heard too many horror stories. The only thing that I miss would be the QS from the 1199 SL, however if I fitted 1, it would probably shred the gearbox in next no time and effort whilst screwing up the engine to boot. As I've had it since new, its only recall was the Reg/Rec & heat shield back in 2008 and a new seat unit, but other than those 2 bits its works a treat to say its only on 9600 miles. Although I have considered changing it over the years, I just can't make my mind up what to swap it for.

I went
Mito 125
Monster 600
Monster 900
Rsv Mille 2001
Tuono 2004
Now:
1199
Sv 650
GROM 125
Soon;
Mito 350

Mine is short:
2004 GSX-R600
2014 Panigale
I plan on keeping the Panigale as long as I can.

I bought my '13 1199 after my 2010 Streetfighter S was totaled out. The sales guy at the shop fired it up in the showroom and I fell in love. Took it out for a day and when I brought it back I told him to get the paperwork in order...

Those were the two first Ducs I have ever owned--I had a chance to buy a wrecked 748 years ago but I didn't jump on it right away and by the time I made a decision it as gone. I've been buying, riding, fixing, and selling motorcycles since I was a kid. In the Past three years I have had:

1987 Honda VT 700C
1977 Kawasaki KZ000
2007 Kawasaki Z1000
2004 Suzuki DRZ400S
2007 Honda CR450F Supermoto
2007 Triumph Speed Triple (green)
2009 Triumph Speed Triple (white)
2010 Ducati SFS
2013 Ducati 1199 Base
Next up...1199 Track bike

I got the 2013 ZX-636 then upgraded to the 2013 ZX-10 which I really liked. Put a lot of mods into it and for the most part it was a great bike. Had a couple R6s in 2005 and 2007. Then I saw 2014 1199 S - black and fell in love with it. So I got that last fall and don't plan on going back lol. It made my ZX10R feel like a truck, honestly Panigales are great bikes and plan on getting the 1299S. I'm really interested now to see what may come out in the next few years.

I went :

Vespa pX 200 Italy with manual gears (some parts are actually made by Ducati)
then shift to sport bikes..

R6
1098s
1198s
999s(Track Bike)
1199s Tricolore

2001 996 that I converted between track and street, cans were modified after the riders left can developed a hole in the carbon so I just cut them down, sounded sweet.

2003 999 also track converted, S cams, cyclops exhaust, powder coated frame, swing arm, wheels, subframe,

1098 high comp pistons, cam degreed, Bazzaz FI, QS, TC, carbon body work, never made it to the track, tranny failed.

2014 1199S, RapidBike Racing, Termi slipons w/ upmap, ceramic coated Termis and headers, Anodized the Ohlins black and upper triple.

With the financial muscle of Audi/VW, the future of Ducati should be good indeed

Seeing the evolution of the cosmetics of these bikes reminds me of Audi - went from kind of a homely looking car to very modern and sleek

I've been lucky enough to have a few of the cheeky bikes over the years.
748 sp and 748 sps, Foggy rep, 996r, and now have my 1098r bayliss and the pani R.

Will keep both the pani R and the bayliss forever. (wish i had never let the foggy and the 996r go). Will definitely have the next gen R when it arrives.
Would love to have a desmo or super leggera sitting in the garage too. Some day maybe.

It may seem from the outside that I tend towards the collector end of Ducati owners, but thats not the case. I just buy em and ride em. The bayliss is now a stripped track bike, and the foggy had over 10 thousand miles on it after a couple of seasons riding back in the day.
The pani R has already done its first track day, and is my works commuter for the rest of the time.

I did a QS Upgrade of my F4 and the Tri with the Cordona-Quickshifter. Great product, easy installation and works like a charm. Next I'm going to install it on my GF's M1200S. I'm sure it works perfect on your 1098 as well. Forget about shredded gearboxes :)

My turn:

I have had 21 bikes in the past 10 years. Mostly Japanese, couple of motards, a VROD muscle. I use to work full time at a motorcycle dealership while I was in college, it had its perks.

4 Ducati's, Hypermotard, 1098, 848 and now a 1299s. My next bike will be the next generation "R" Because when it becomes available I should be stable enough in my life that I can both appreciate it and feel gratified that I have the "best"

I went 996Bip but with single seat conversion, termi's etc, 998S, 1098S, 1199S Tricolore, 1299S.. with a few Jap IL4's thrown in here and there.

Im keeping my eyes out for a good 998S or R but don't want to ruin the rose tinted memories I have of it. The workshop at my dealers always has a few interesting 99x's being worked on, as well as their showroom of Yamaha 2 strokes which they still race

Test rode a 999S but couldn't get on with the looks, even though the handling was leagues ahead of the 998.

1299S is just phenomenal.

I still have the 998 Bayliss, and 1098 Tricolore as well as the 1199 Tricolore ( 3 bikes on the road and no plans to sell ).

Looking forward to increasing the collection.
