How about Shift tech? I'm looking to get some CF pieces as well and was looking at carbonvani since I keep hearing they are top notch. How does shift tech compare? Just found out they aren't to far from me!

shift tech is top quality. FYI, in recent months they've been selling a more economical carbon fibre on ebay at much lower price.

I would'nt hesitate to buy again from shift-tech

here's a link to the economical priced stuff:

STCFG001 DUCATI 1199 PANIGALE CARBON FIBER GLASS BACKING SHOCK GUARD | eBay

He does still sell the high quality stuff.

I prefer carbon as a compliment to the bike , not take over it. If the bike is painted, the matte look superp and more race like. If the bike is all carbon go with the gloss. All carbon just looks too much. After all its just bling, if we wanted to be lighter just go on a diet its far cheaper.

Gloss for me, amd I prefer 3x3 weave. Maybe if the satin was a 3x3 it would appeal to me more. The DP matte looks like plastic or carbon look to me.

+1 !! Yes I agree! Carbon should be a compliment to the bike only. I have purchased the DP rear fender and DP rear shock spring cover to Compliment my original matte finish front fender on my "S". I will be getting the Matte Key guard and some other DP matte inner fairing panels to match them with...

Now if you do make the tank carbon and so the main fairings...I agree, go for the Gloss...Tank, seat cowl, fairings can be gloss...but other plastic parts that are originally in black plastic...go for matte.

Thats how I would do it... :D

Matte for me as well. I just finished putting all Ducati matte carbon fiber on my Panigale. The last piece to get was the heal guards and I ordered those yesterday!

I bought a front fender for my SF from this dude (Welcome to Tekarbon) and it seems fine to me. I didn't have to rework it much to get it mounted (maybe I drilled out one of the holes a bit, I can't remember) and it has held up fine. It's the shiny carbon variant - not sure if he offers matte. I haven't bought any cf for the Pani yet, but will stick with matte if I do since that is what it came with (DP front fender).

I'm with ed218 though. I like the carbon to be an accent and not look like I dipped the bike in a vat of carbon fiber. The only reason I bought the SF front fender is it got too hard to keep the white one clean and the cf one doesn't show dirt, etc. :)

I prefer satin. But honestly, I wish the entire carbon fiber fad would go away. Seems dated and tired. Time for something new.

I'm not sure carbon is a fad. Some who cover their swing arm with it could be considered using it for fad purposes, but it's strength to weight ratio can't be beat... or at least with anything i know.

satin. it's should be about the function of the material and not the bling in my book.

And from what I can tell, it is EXTREMELY rare for CF to be used for some structural purpose, and is instead simply bling. I currently can't even think of a CF option that is used for its strength to weight function. Tank guard? Fenders? Swing arm cover? Shock cover? Bodywork? All just for the look, which tells me it's a fad. Styles and desired looks always change. Maybe the next new thing will be diamond encrusted, because that would be awesome.

I have the Shift-Tech swing arm cover, matte-finish. Matches the DP carbon well and the fit was perfect compared to the DP cover.

BST wheels brother. They do make true carbon swingarms but they are pricey as hell !!

And that awesome true carbon fiber Arai helmet. Again, pricey. So yes, there are a few, but I think we'd agree by far the most CF stuff out there is bling, not functional CF. And hey, don't get me wrong, I enjoy bling. Just like to see new stuff. Otherwise I'd still be wearing my Z Cavaricci jeans and acid wash jean jacket.

Carbon fiber is for race and saving weight, for street is simply bling. If plain fiber glass was lighter than carbon fiber all our bikes would have whiteish yellow fiberglass parts on them and the price would go up only because its was used on race bikes. I love carbon fiber, but i do think its a rip off for what you really get. How many ounces are you saving on the shock gaurd, just take it off and it would be lighter and cheaper. With that said I will still buy one................sucker.

I'm no chemist, but I am pretty sure standard plastic is lighter than carbon fiber, just not as strong. Carbon fiber is ligher than other materials with that level of strength, but there is no strength needed for a shock cover or a fender. I suspect, and would love to actually see, that such carbon fiber bling actually INCREASES the weight, albeit I'm sure very slightly. The carbon fiber tank guard certainly felt heavier than the clear.

I'm hoping the swing arm cover, clutch and alternator covers will protect the metal parts from damage / grinding should the bike go down. I've poured heaps of money into the bike with CF and lighter suspension springs, re-valved shocks and ceramic coated pipes etc, so the CF covers better do their job. (Couldn't stand the idea of adding protection KNOBS to the Panigale S)

Oh, MATTE/Satin for me!

As for the $4000 ARAI CF Helmet, I seriously looked into getting one, but it is 'illegal' to use in Australia because it is not Standards Approved. Go Figure???
