Thinking about the tricolore

I have zero doubt about the loving part! The only one I rode was a base with stock cans. I am sure I would love the tricolore. But I put a lot of mileage and just hope I don't have the headaches. And a bit concerned that this bike only has a couple of months of warranty left.

I have been lucky I guess but only two minor problems with mine. I had to get the indicator wiring recall done and also they had to recalibrate my gear position sensor. Both were quick jobs. I have had mine since May 2012.

I changed the mirrors to some that do not vibrate so much and changed the slippery foot pegs, changed to some softer grips and put the dp tail tidy on. Thats been about it for me. Never did the heat shield upgrade.

I am going to give the 41 tooth sprocket a go though.

Should be a clear choice for the Tri, since you get the extra goodies. Just spring for an extended warranty and you will sleep with peace of mind.
I just got my 2014 last month and she is certainly a keeper. The looks alone should do it for you since the RR is arguably "faster" she also is ugly. So you were done a favor of sorts, though I am sure you loved your stolen bike, and hopefully a pox is placed upon those thieves!

I have a 2012 Tri and got it when it first came out. Only problem I had was the leaking oil part and the re-bleeding of the clutch and all was taken care of by the warranty, also all the recalls. Besides that I'm still in love with her like the first day. You should see if they can throw in the extended warranty which is $1,000 (USD).

Conversely, you could get the 899 and still have a killer ride whilst saving some monies to put towards the akra system..

I love my Tri and have added one or two bits to her, but the R is much better value for money. Buy a R and paint her like a Tri. :D

That's cheesy.

What's the difference between an S and Tri. They are pretty much the same accept for DDA, correct? And paint?

There is a big difference. Both the Tri and the are have Termi slips but the R gets the following extras:
1) All the DP carbon fibre bits
2) Termi exhaust manifolds
3) Ti conrods
4) 500 rpm higher rev limit
5) 41 tooth rear sprocket
6) Lightened crankshaft
and a few more items adding a lot more value to the R than the sticker price would reveal.

Thanks Clay, but not interested in the R. Either an S or Tri.

The slip on is really troubling. I was told the full system is $4400. What is the slip on worth?

I would assume they are ready to make a deal on that bike. I think it might be their demo, in which case I am not motivated to purchase that exact one.

I'm confused.

Is it a dealer demo bike? Or has it been previously owned? If dealer demo, (i.e. never titled), you should have full warranty when you buy it.

If it was previously owned, I'd make the dealer thrown in at least a couple of years extended warranty in the deal.

The slips are the most expensive, the manifolds are a hundred or two dollars cheaper.

Ya, not sure the true story yet. But they did say the warranty is ending this sept. So possible a buyer remorse issue

I was skeptical about buying a used panigale. I was looking at a used S model with 2k miles on it but opted to get a new base.

I don't dog my bikes too much so hopefully I won't have any mechanical issues. The bike seems solid enough. Engine is really smooth. I think with anything if you rag it out it will break eventually.

the tri colore is the only 1199 i would consider if i were you. anything else if you can get another hp4 do that.

I am very happy with my modified Tricolores. Other than limited edition (numbered) Rs and the SL .. the Tricolores are rare-ish.

I understand that Ducati no longer manufacture the Tricolore.
