Third time tachometer problem

Ducati Forum

Help Support Ducati Forum:

my stealership wouldn't replace my dash . i had/have condensation in the dash waterspots on the inside that drive me nuts they won't do a thing.

Wait, did some ....... ^^ actually suggest that we MUST park our bikes in the shade?

I mean, if I choose shade or sun and have shade available I'll choose the shade.

But actually demanding he park his bike in the shade? Are you retarded? If I can't park my bike in front of Foodtown on a Sunday at 2pm without having to worry about losing my $1,000 screen due to it being a tad too sunny, THATS A BIG ISSUE....

So, far we have:

1. oil leaks- all over the bike
2. fogging dash
3. melting dash
4. melting fairings
5. slave/clutch issues
6. bolts/pieces/assorted .... flying off
7. paint issues- clear coat failure
8. starting issues
9. turn signal/horn issues

(take or leave these ones)
10. horrible OEM gearing- the ....... 41T 'upgrade' should have been at no charge, they can take back the original ....
11. no oil viewer on initial production run.

So let me get this straight, these are all "okay" and "everyday things." In literally every single thread somebody chimes in defending Ducati and how this bike ISN'T a big rolling piece of ....; when in fact it IS.

Yes, I'm keeping mine, I do love it for the most part and plan on tracking my R next season. I personally haven't had all of these issues its just the running list I've made. I'm not bashing Ducati, I'm expressing my opinion about facts.

Feel free to flame this reply as I most likely won't be reopening this thread...

The babies are out in full force

Yes WHINEY children, if you have another windshield installed it is probably a good idea to install somthing on the shield to protect your dash.

Puig, zero gravity, DP Corse windscreen etc all comes with warnings stating that the sun magnifying effect may cause damage no matter which bike you buy it for. This has been true for the past 20 plus years.

i see the ducati drone is out in full force. are you wearing your ducati feetie pajamas and getting ready to climb into your ducati 1199 shaped bed with your ducati bed sheets and pillows? out the box the the 1199 is the best bike ever never needs a mod and nothing goes wrong. all complaints are a figment of the imagination and never really happen.

Hey what's wrong with Ducati feetie PJs? :)

The sun caused it . My dash did the same . I had a BMW GSA 1200 that dash melted as well .
It's plastic it's going to melt . Do what I did with my GS and get a dash surround should be able to buy something in Carbon Fibre .
Ducati made the sun too hot . Damn you .

buddies 2012 triumph 675-r melted a HOLE! in the gauge cluster after the bike sitting out at lunch for 2 hrs.. and stock windscreen... and triumph wouldn't replace it at least ducati is making the effort

Hope he went on to the internet and pissed his pants in public about it .
Seems to happen here a fair bit.

Amazing how perspective matters. Many dealers/brands would tell you it's your fault. Your dealer is replacing an expensive item under warranty and your response (and a few others) are totally negative.

Sure it's frustrating, but it happens to many bikes and unfortunate every time when it happens.

It's not the end of the world. If I were you, I would swap to a different windscreen immediately before your dealer runs out of FREEBIES! Your dash (and mine) were probably made the exact same way with the same materials. Personally I think the TFT dash is one of the best things this bike has going for it.

1. Define all over.
2. You think Ducati built the dash? Unlikely. You know how many lighting enclosures have had leaks on cars? A lot. It happens. They replace.
3. Happened to many bikes. Rare, but does happen.
4. Bike is hot, happened to a few. I think more with aftermarket or upgrade pipes.
5. True.
6. Seems like only people who ...... with it first.
7. Every manufacturer on the planet has had this problem.
8. True.
9. True.

The bike wasn't designed just for you!
10 is preference.
11 was corrected.

I'm not saying all this is acceptable, just it's all small ..... It could be worse if the dealers didn't support the product. But my experience has been they do fully support and fix issues.

It's not a fact to call the bike a rolling piece of ..... That's your opinion.

I bet you could make a list for every vehicle sold in history of vehicles. Get over it.

WhitePani,

I would LOVE to talk to your "stealership" and have a good laugh with them at what a literal nightmare you must be as a customer. I guarantee that they 100% wish they never sold you a bike, or would give the sales margin back to you in cash if you never come in there again. I can imagine when you pull up and they start taking lunch breaks, and saying "Oh God, that tool is back, what could possibly be wrong today," and hiding in the back"¦.

Your complaints to them must be epic. Your "I'm not bashing Ducati" made me pen this.

And"¦.you most certainly WILL open this post again, and read it to see what was responded. Don't be an idiot. We know your bizarre Ducati Münchausen syndrome by proxy requires it :)

NOLA

So I went to ducati today and the mechanic got crazy. It is impossible what happened he said and immediately took pictures and send them to ducati in Italy. I forgot to tell that I am from Greece and I was the first idiot who bought this bike here. My bike is from the first generation of 1199 that were produced. Yesterday I took one more ride at night to see if it is gonna get bigger the problem and I show you the results.

A second bubble beside the first one. So this is not a problem of the sun because I rid at night and the second mark happened during this ride. I think there is a problem with the electric parts of the bike. That's why this happens. At the moment I wait an official ducati answer of what a .... is going on.

it's always the best to talk directly with the mechanic, they're the most reasonable and knowledgeable in the dealerships, plus most times they love the bikes, so they take pride in taking care of them.

good deal to demand a solution from ducati. to be honest, i can't recall this issue here yet. fogged dahes, yes, but molten on top? no.

It also fogs but this is the least for me at the moment.
