So travelling at the moment and just read three 2013 shoot-out tests in Motorcycle News (AU), Fast Bike (UK), Bike (UK) The only difference is that this year is that 2 of the three tested the 1199R model instead if the S and the HP4 instead of the S1KRR.

And.....Same result as last year Aprilia and BMW win every time. In fact the R has faired less well than last year because its value compared to the S is worse, plus they all slag the R for its throttle on track.

At least it will gradually clear out the bar room braggers that wanted the fastest/most powerful bike/ best handling bike - cause the 1199 isn't it ;)

For those who relish the challenge of riding and trying to master one of most demanding superbikes on the planet then all is good with the world :D

Can't wait to get home and ride mine!

thanx for your post.

i to myself follow these reviews to see how the bigger RRR brother holds up.

to me these reviews are good but are also wrong.

2 reviews i seen both RRRR dont have there full termi exhaust on.
while the HP4 gets its full akra.

i believe that the hp4 will be a great street machine and track.
but these are not the reason why we buy ducati.
ducati never won the RWHP.
its emotion and feeling.

anyhow doesnt matter i wouldnt trade my S for a hp4

I agree, if I had to choose one it would be the Pani. The HP4 is phenomenal but ina different way. I'm going to upload the track verdict if I can get the image function to work properly.

Was motorcycle news the HP4 vs 1199s.
Someone dropped June (I think) issue on my desk.
Plus a note. Your bike is to loud.

Hang on, just read your post again, how do you know its too loud? Or are you just commenting on the fact I've said it's too loud

Sorry someone left the mag and a note in MY desk!
Saying my bike was too loud ;)

I agree with their assessment, and that's why I like it. When you finally figure it out on the track, it's an Epiphany.

They re right .. The beemer is like a sewing machine ... Just zooms .. You can sleep on the straights . Pulls like a tank but no buzz .. .. I suspect the pani suffers greatly from aerodynamics with larger/ widerc riders .. I ll put on a 43t rear so i can pull 6th ...

I'll never be able to ride the bike anywhere near it's full potential.:)

I guess I'll just have to suffer with my Pani.

....the journalists have to sell motorcycles and magazines....and while i enjoy reading some of the articles....i think we're all much better off buying our own bike of choice, riding it as much as we can, and writing our own articles.......

- just my .02 cents

+ 1 .. They should do : 3 tracks ( spa, assen and brands indy ) , on superstock tires. ( pani : sc2 ) and with their top exhaust line and 2000 km on the counter .. As the hp4 has semi active susmension , specific setting up for the track should be allowed .. Then we ll know . Should we need to know .. :)

If I recall all the "comparo's" I've read, none of them have really had the bike prepped to get the best performance. I don't know if that would have changed their opinion or not, but it just seems like they wrote their conclusions before riding the bikes. I used to get some silly sense of satisfaction from reading a positive review of the bike I rode, then when all the ...... reviews on the 1199 came out I was a little pissed. Now, I don't really care and somehow get a little rebellious satisfaction from them. I love this bike, but will probably never ride it to within an hour of James Hayden's time or within a zip code of the bikes limits. But, I will have fun trying. It's not for everyone and that's fine, it's great to have choices.

Funny, if Ducati wanted a bike to lose motorcycle tests to all the other manufacturers, they could have just re-released the 999 series.

Hell, it's still a better bike than the Panigale in many ways.

O-well, maybe they'll reward us next time with a bike that doesn't have so many counterproductive gimmicks (I'm looking at you - fly by wire throttle system!) and give us another ridiculously raw beast like the 1198 to try and master. I swear, riding those 1098R's, and 1198's are like trying to ride a pissed off bull at a rodeo, sooo much more fun than the stock Panigale, which reminds me more of a young kitten.

All the bikes are so good that most of the differences are just nit picking. He'll, look at the fact that the R1 has won championships the last few years. The mags don't even test that bike any more and it finishes last every time they do. But it shows that they all can be set up properly.
