Tire life SP/TD/SC

Being that it is going to be a high of 55f this weekend for the Pig Roast (lots of sun though) this has been a huge concern for me. Been scouring every google link and the consensus is a harder compound and drop 1-2 PSI off your usual setting to get the carcass to heat up.

Probably grabbing a coaching jersey and running with my kid in novice for the first sessions. Some great advice I read was to treat the cold like racing in the rain, slow inputs on the bars/brakes/gas, reduce lean by exaggerating the hang off.

Kick ass this weekend!

Funny thing, talking to the Pirelli rep he said the SC1 will give you more grip in any condition. He said not go go with a SC2 as it is an endurance tire.
Since 2019 they redid the SC line up. The SC0 is the soft, SC1 is the medium and SC2 is the hard. SC3 is only reserved for the front tire, no longer offered in the rear. Racer qualifier is the SCX.

Ahhhh, makes sense! Always considered the SC2 as a medium compound, so need to wrap my head around that (I know, hard work for me).

Cheers!

Perhaps thats why your tires still looked good and mine were trash can worthy when i started on my second day on them?

Yeah, I run slightly higher PSI than you on average, I think 28/38 in most warm conditions, 26/36 in cooler, probably 25/35 to start this weekend.

I ran 37 in front when it was really cold this weekend and 27 in the rear.
As the day temps went up I lowered pressure to a 26 in the rear and a 36 up front.

Morning practice yesterday i went out with a 37 front and came back with a 29.8.
Rear was a 35 hot and came back 34.4.
