Tires for my 1299s

So M9RR would compete with SC V3's????
They wont be as good as V3's by a long way for the track but for sports riding in variable real world conditions Im sure these will be an excellent tire, I tried M7's. Good but not in the same league as V3's, heres a pic after a track day where they felt greasy.

Recently fitted Rosso Corsa 2's, fitted a 200/60 rear. Initial feel is great, rides the bumps better than the Power RS+ that I used before. No problems with the Michelins for me, about 5000 miles of use with quite good poor weather grip. Prefer these Pirelli's, but new tyres always make your bike feel like a new bike!

Can you explain the difference between the 200/60 rear and the 200/55 rear? I have a 1299. But would someone put a 200/60 rear instead of a 200/55 rear? What are the pros vs cons? I keep reading different explanations. Ive never ran a 200/60 and would like to know the benefits of why someone would choose that. Unless the 200/55 is a better set up for the 1299.

A 60 tire will be taller than the 55. So by raising the rear of the bike with a taller profile tire it’s going to change the handling and turn in feeling.

When changing the tire size you also change the angle of the swing arm. Ideally you want to adjust the length of the shock to get the swing arm back to where it started. But once you start it’s easy to get sucked into more adjustments.

Set
tire pressure
Chain slack
Swing arm angle
Sag

The goal is the get and keep the swing arm angle to the angle that best gives you the turn in and feel you desire.

There’s another thread in the suspension section that talks about this extensively.

I get 2000 miles on a supercorsa front tire. 2500 on the rear. Edge wear. Center is fine.

Changed to TDs and love them. Hoping to get at least this mileage and they are cheaper.

No idea how anyone gets 5000+ miles on them. That’s insane

Ultimately tires are personal preference but these bikes were designed for supercorsas. Just a millimetre or two, a few clicks in or out can make a big difference in suspension settings affecting feel and grip so arguably tires with different compounds, profiles, sizes and construction are equally if not more important. Until you know better, when youre really on it and exploring limits of corner speed I think its best to stick with the oems. It might be in my head but supercorsas are the most confidence inspiring of all the road tires ive had on. Just a bit expensive.

I got 5k out of the SC2’s but I go easy on them. The center was squared off because I can’t hardly find a road that’s not straight around here. It’s so depressing.

Anyway, SC2 are soft and I don’t push nearly as hard on the street to warrant needing that level of grip.

If I were going the track then I’d probably buy a set. At the track I want the best I can buy.
