I love the hypermotard SP. It's definitely on the short list of second bikes. As far as the 1199 is concerned,.....well on the street is like seeing wild animals in a zoo. Nice to look at, but they hate you for it. Much better in their natural habit...the track!
Not to sound anti-sports bike, but if your not tracking the bike, (especially the Pani), I see little purpose in owning one. While breaking in my R I rode it on the highway hit 145 (indicated) in 3rd gear. It's not meant for the streets. The 899 is about the power limit of "useable" power for the street.
Unless you live next to the autobahn, or autostrada the 1199 is a caged beast. I explained it to my wife that it's probably the male equivalent of wearing high heels...lol.
Enjoy the hyper..... It's fun all day!
It is why my Ninja 1000 is my all time favorite bike. It's 95% pure sport bike but with comfortable ergos.

Just one week out of lasts chemo treatment and I did 160 miles on my Tri yesterday. Last 30 was slab so it was tuff.
I live in twisty heaven, you can still stretch her legs not loosing that smile.
It's just a thought at this point. I really like the Pani, don't think I am scared of it. Top speed runs down the freeway and riding a wheelie at 80mph ain't no thing. I've ridden street bikes my whole life, 13 years now. We don't have bike tracks here in Vegas. Maybe I am just getting old? 34 lol.
I rode the SP at pro italia a few months back. Very cool bike, very chill. I couldn't believe how smooth and quiet it was. Seemed more like me. On the freeway my hands fall a sleep to damn fast riding the Pani. Maybe I can change to a comfort style grip.

Not exactly sure what to make of that statement.
