Troy Bayliss talks about the Ducati 1199 in a Question and Answer session:
How good is the front end?
"I know people may be worried by what the front-end will be like with what's going on with the MotoGP bike, but there's nothing to worry about. it's the best bike I've ridden on the brakes and into a corner. Under Braking it's super stable, and turning it in is much better than even the 1198. You can make up time on the brakes alone and there's much more to come from this bike - I only rode it three times!"
Did Troy lap faster than on the Ducati 1198 Superbike?
"Yep, I clocked a time 0.7sec faster on my third test at Mugello than on the 1198 Superbike. It's really fast, and again, there's much more to come."
Does the rear shock get in the way while riding the 1199?
"I did mildly hook my boots up on it once or twice at first, but not after that. you just get used to it being there."
Anything else to say?
"It's roomier than anything since the 916 variants, it feels more like an older Ducati. I had to bring up the footpegs because I found it too big - bigger blokes will fit it better than before. I actually didn't have anything to do with it's development, but I reckon Ducati don't even need to go racing with this bike, as it's going to be the best thing out there. Anybody out there who may have been concerned it wouldn't be as good as the previous bike need not worry...It's much better"
