Hey all! Finally past the break-in period and looking to get a tune for my SFV4S. Will probably end up going with a full Akra system as well. My main question is for those of you who have an off-the-shelf tune (UpMap is what I’m leaning towards), does it help with low RPM fueling? As it is, stock seems to hate being below 4K RPMs which makes around town and traffic riding tedious at times. Would be nice to be able to smooth this out for low speed in 1st and 2nd gears. Thanks ahead of time for any input!

1. The full Akra comes with a Ducati map- if your dealer is one of the sticklers, this map is all that will be allowed under warranty.
2. The Ducati map does fix the low throttle fueling, at least it seemed better for me
3. If you don't care about warranty. Open Flash Tablet has gotten the majrity of positive reviews on the FB SF groups
4. If you go Open Flash Tablet, get slipons of another brand unless you like the look of the Akra. Slip on Akra is only 1% HP and Tq down from the full Akra system and $2k cheaper. No reason to think other brand slipons would be any different. An open hole is an open hole

As for the warranty with the flashes. Ducati mothership will do everything they can to prove the unauthorized flash caused any issue you have and void your warranty, it would be up to your dealer, and you to fight back and prove the flash did not cause the issue.

Thanks for the reply and input. Glad to hear it helped with the low speed issues. And yes the warranty issue is my only hesitation at this point. Currently dealing with a rear case oil leak they’ve tried to fix once but came back so I have to deal with that first. And I talked with my dealer when I bought the bike and they said they don’t offer the exhaust/flash anymore - not sure if this is just my dealer or all in the US (they claimed none in the US are allowed to offer it anymore) but haven’t researched this too much yet.

The full system does not come with the mapping. For a Ducati dealer to download the map, they have to register the serial number of the exhaust system to your VIN, and in the US, Ducati wants some more nonsense done. My dealer said they won't do it unless I removed or taped off the mirrors and lights, trailer the bike in and remove the turn signal fuse, etc. just basically establish its a track only bike and wouldn't be used on the road.

I'm not a fan of the Euro 4 style OEM exhaust with the big loop under the seat. I think the full Akra and the Euro 5 systems look a lot better, but that's a small reason to pay that much money. That being said, shop around for a full system if you want one. Don't spend $5500, there are deals to be found.

I guess it would depend on your understanding of "come with". You cannot buy the map separate from the exhaust. They will not install the exhaust without it. And you do not pay extra for it. Nor can you get the exhaust cheaper without it.
Do you get a physical key like the old systems? No.
But you do get the map when the exhaust is registered to the VIN... no matter where you get it.

Be mindful of secondhand exhaust in this case, from my understanding, a dealer needs to remove the "key" from the ecu and give to the seller so the seller can give to the buyer.

Sounds complicated. With my H2, I used FTECU and with that, you just log into the program on a laptop and set all your parameters yourself for throttle positions, power and even the rev limiter. Wish someone made something like that for the Duc. I like how easy it was to customize everything. But also it took 6 months of fine tuning before I really got it right.

Ditto at my US dealer, and deregistered. Owner said one disgruntled employee or customer complaint to EPA or State is not worth the trouble.

@Duckylucky By deregistered you mean with the license plate? I'm not aware of a way to do that other than to let it expire. I wouldn't go through all the effort of taping stuff and trailering the bike only to leave the license plate on it.
