U0323- Unknown device error

Ducati Forum

Help Support Ducati Forum:

I was thinking more accessory terminators since they could be removed. On a V4 there's a set of resistors at the end of the wiring leading into the tail, but they are taped up and zip tied. You'd really have to be trying hard to mess them up.

On the V4 you can see them at the very end of the fuel tank under the seat.

Where could they be on a 1199 ? I heavnt found anything like this on my bike

A recent update while working on this issue , i found my immo being teared up for an unknown reason , might be possible that its been bypassed or something , seems like someone took out the voltage regulator out of it , is this causing the unknown device error , but if yes than whats wrong with the speedo reading ?, reference pics attached

WTF? Was this bike stolen at one point? I’m surprised it starts with that elock. I’m thinking this bike has a shady past at some point.

Doesnt looks like a crashed bike , god knows if it was stolen or what , but the key seems to be genuine , and i bought it for fckn 10k$

Iam from pakistan and it has an import history of 2014 , with its complete documents including custom declaration and GD , even the date of purchase from the USA invoice with me

A lot can happen in 8 years. Bottom line, that bike has been modified from its original configuration and it has issues. Your geography doesn’t help trouble shoot the issue. I run a base BBS abs dash in my 1299. If I pull the base BBS or the base dash and plug in an S BBS and dash I will get an “unknown device” ID Your additional messages with regard to ABS is a confounding factor due to the nature of the non ABS spec components that came with the bike. Either your BBS or your dash is not original to the bike and one needs to be replaced or that elock mod is causing anomalies. Either way, you’re going to spend some money to get it fixed.

Well i dont mind spending money on it , but i want to make sure of what i will spend will help sort out my issue, that was the reason i took everything out to identify where the fault is , neither dash nor bbs found to be from some other model , their serial and part# are mathcing with bike , yes iam stuck in the middle bcoz we dont have any after sales support in this region !

@Shaw did you find / fix the issue ??
I sent an email to ducati co. Regarding this issue and they have reffered my case to the nearest service centre which is in neighbor country , so i sent a mail there too but unfortunately no reply from there !

Hey, I have the exact same issue on my 2012 1199 non-abs. Same codes, symptoms, etc. my issue happened after reassembling the bike from doing a fuel pump replacement, and before that it worked fine. Curious to see what your result was, I believe the ecu, bbs and dash may be correct for the bike and there is some kind of can resistance issue or faulty module. Did you ever resolve this?

Still living with this fault , even ducati co. Wouldn't have helped me out of it , was it ok before replacing fuel pump ? Did u disconnected any control modules before replacing fuel pump ? Or anything which u did that u think might be causing this error , because resistance is not an issue , i have triple checked resistance , shortage and all electrical stuff !

My friend , i figured it out after a whole year of wait , i hope you did it too , so the problem was :

When u disconnect a parent control unit for a long period eg hours , ducati goes in this state , so i bought a universal scanner , plugged it in & when i went in BBS setting there is an option to Enable/Disable ABS , i disable it ( since the bike is non-Abs ) & boom all errors gone including , U0323 unknown device , AbS light , Check engine Light , & the speedo , traction control , quick shifter all started working again . I hope it may help you aswell you just have to connect your bike with a good scanner thats it.
If you need pictures of it let me know , thanks everyone for the help & support

Thanks , yeah wot i think is that these ducatis loose their memory if a control unit being unplugged for a while
Wow, that is great news. So it seems the ECU freezes up if one of the parameters is not set correctly.
Congrats! Now you can enjoy your bike.

Its EID Holidays here & iam out for vacations, as soon as i reach i will post the pictures in a day or two , if the hardware is same according to its model then there would be no issues to sort this out !
