Recieved your email, fingers crossed. I may drop by tomorrow as its pretty close to work to see unless I hear anything before.

Hope you're right, but seems loads of conflicting stories so until given a fixed date from dealer I'm assuming nothing.

Would have been a good week to take delivery this week looking at weather outside !!!

I'm skeptical that you can still secure one of the first bikes into the UK - sounds to me like dealer speak for join the end of the queue. My understanding was that most, if not all, dealers had sold their first allocations. I had difficulty getting a bike, back in November.

Given that mine shipped on Friday, I'd go look in the dealers today as the bikes should be arriving about now. Unless the dealer is planning the big reveal they should be on display real soon.

I will be hearing more about my Tric end of May to middle of June. I don't mind too much as there's not anything else that fits my criteria so I am happy to wait at the momment.

Im supposed to be getting mine imminently but every time i tell someone It's 'ive heard your not getting it for weeks yet' so ive give up on all the speculation and im just waiting to hear off my dealer.

I feel your pain, "imminently" is somehow so not comforting. I currently have "not in April".

Much better to have actual dates hey!!

1199 Arrival

I ordered my standard model with ABS back in September from Italia Moto of Lincoln and so will have one of 3 bikes they are getting from the initial batch. Called in last week and they were pretty confident of some bikes arriving this week, but not sure which spec. Likely the S and Tric models will arrive first with standard ABS bikes one to two weeks behind. So it's looking good, but who knows, seems the be the bike worlds best kept secret. One thing they did say was that demonstrators would be arriving with the first batch, so appears that that timing will be the same for customers and dealers alike?

Yes Aylesbury had a 1199 on show. They should be getting there demo model on Wed 28th? and I have been invited to have a test ride at my leisure. The bike IMO is the dogs dangly bits. Have to say with the weather so nice, I lost myself in riding my 1098, starting to thing why get rid, just love it. The bike was more complete then the ones shown at NEC. A lot of the fairing infill was in place... but not all. Still being told May for mine that I ordered in Nov last year. The wait now is killing but soon.... very soon

yeah aylesbury had a 2 day event with a 'S' its only display bike, their still waiting for the demo bike.
i was also told that there will be a £25 charge with a £1000 security deposit to ride their demo model when it arrives to stop 'dreamers'

I don't know if thats more cheeky, or lazy

1) How the fek can you justify charging for a test ride

2) What happened to pre-qualifying sales leads properly

3) If you can't supply a punter an 1199 after he test rides, is there not an opportunity to switch sell

Surely, the purpose of such a demo bike is to excite people about the model, generating sales and increasing overall interest in the brand. Dealers that behave like this really irritate me.

I have also got an order in for a standard with ABS from Italia Moto, this week they will receive 3 'S' and 1 Tricolore, they have no confirmation about deliveries on the standard, I was hoping it would be here for Easter, fingers crossed!!!

These's no way I would pay for a test ride. Had I walked into this dealer to express an interest in the 1199 and they told me I had to pay £25 for a test ride I would be riding an RSV4 or an S1000RR now. Sure they must get loads of tyre kickers, but this is just lazy.

I would pay the £25 if asked, though I doubt if you are a customer of that dealer you'll have to pay. I think I could use up 10% of the rear tire life on a 2 hour test ride ;)

I recall Ducati Leeds loosing (written off) a couple of demo bikes last year.

I'd pay for a test ride--but only if the amount paid could go towards the purchase. I completely understand why they're doing it and don't blame them a bit. Hell, you can't even test ride an R1 or a CBR!

Its a different landscape in the UK. A flagship dealer will run a full demo fleet.

There typically subsidised, or rotated around dealers. Ok, so while Ducati don't operate it like that, still no excuse to get all high and mighty, coz they have this years hot chick to the dance.

...., you could walk into a UK Ferrari dealer and they'd let you test drive most things, as a regular Joe of the street!!

Leeds have thier demo bike in now. Called in earlier & was in process of being built. I understand its going to be out most of today, but will be there tomorrow in all its glory. Looks very very nice indeed (1st time i've seen one in the flesh).

By all account, Leeds 1st allocation is 5 no. bikes. The bikes are not at DVS(?) yet, or Leeds are not aware they are, Ducati's uk warehouse, but said they will only get 3 days notice they are being shipped to the dealer. I have one of the 5 bikes, and am being informed definately within next couple of weeks !!!
