V4 Price Negotiations... Does it exist

Ducati Forum

Help Support Ducati Forum:

V4 Base is a great deal for the money. The V4 and Speciale are very special in their own ways. And ..... if you can afford one go for it.

With me Ducati superbikes move your soul. The R1M with a full Akra race moves my soul as well. And of course the HP4 Race moves my soul real good. LOL

Aprilia has nice models but the problem with them is the number of dealership locations. I have been amazed with I have seen pop up on cycle trader the past year. The deals will always be there or soon to come.

If the 2019 BMW will be anything like the HP4 race I will definitely sell my V4S to get one...

If you say so... [emoji849]

Don't feel bad, mate. Whatever you paid for your V4S won't come close to what I had to shell out for mine. Philippine prices for Ducatis (and Euro bikes in general) are nuts. I hear it's worse in some other countries though so I'm not complaining. Well, not too much anyway. :)

I got a pretty decent deal on mine, a little under MSRP (including PDI and freight) + 15% discount on parts and gear.

I had to shop around a lot to find a dealer that wasn’t charging above MSRP however

I don't feel bad lol I didn't buy my bike on a budget [emoji23] I don't buy expensive things if I can't afford them

In a serious note, in 10 years from now my bike will be worth 7-9k, I bet your bike will go up on price in the Philippine or hold the value.

Maybe, or maybe I wish it were so, hehe. No worries here either way, I'm in the same boat. If price was a major concern I wouldn't be looking at brand new Italian motorcycles. The V4 is a special enough bike to make me go for one despite being a first year model and quite pricier than the Japanese bikes I've had experience with over the years.

Oh, I'm interested to see how the new S1000RR turn out, too.

Enjoy your V4S! I think you absolutely made the right call on it. I still have to wait a bit for mine to arrive.

Malaysia they pay minimum double for any decent bike/car, a typical R1 is about 40K aud.

Not as bad here, thankfully. I'm still paying close to Speciale US/UK pricing for an S though. Yeah, European car prices suck here, too.

Credit to Ducati Philippines, their markup isn't as bad as some other dealers like our local BMW Motorrad. Aprilia doesn't even have an official distributor, so good luck finding one at decent import prices. Best value for money would still be the Japanese brands, Kawasaki in particular. My 2017 ZX-10RR was purchased at almost exactly US msrp.

Just buy an H2 then!

LOL :D, the H2 is great but I'm more into handling and cornering over straight line speed, even though that does have its thrills. Not that the Ducati doesn't have that in spades.

My V4S is gonna be doing track duty regularly so it wins out over the H2. The Panigale will be replacing the ZX-10RR in my garage btw, but even if it wasn't... still V4S for me. It's the complete package I'm looking for in a bike right now.

Boom!!! They do exist!!! :D Dealer just called me back and took $800 off the price of a V4 base. Deposit sent..
When he 'couldn't' take any money off the MSRP last week (when I created this post) I told him I won't be able to buy the bike because my wife told me to stay under a certain amount. He changed his mind today; probably trying to close out his books for the end of the month.

My dealer offered $500 off msrp for their base V4 so everyone trying to give you an economics lesson here is full of it. My dealer gave a friend $1,750 off msrp on a base 2012 1199 a few months after they were released. I still can’t believe the latter myself. He didn’t even try to negotiate, salesman was like “yeah so here’s what I can do for you.”

Suckers pay MSRP. then again people who owned 1199’s that spent 25% of their ownership in the shop are the same ones buying a first year V4 so the sucker process starts even before negotiation I guess :D (Not shooting anyone in the foot here I’m one of those suckers)

Dealer gave me $2000 off my 1199 in October of 2012.. But probably because of the season end. So i can believe the $1750 off.

I got $2k off msrp for my 1199R in the fall of 2013, and they gave me $3k above book value for my R1 as a trade in.

Also paid below msrp for my v4s.

What makes this world great is that we are able to indulge in frivolous things, like 200+ hp Italian MotoGP derivatives. It doesn't matter how I am able to possess it or how you are able to possess it. At the end of the day, our currency supports the brand.

With that said, many moons ago when I worked retail while attending university, a wealthy buyer told me "always ask what the retailer can do for you to close the sale." And since then, I always have. Sometimes I have to pay retail / msrp. More often than not, I get a break. At the end of the day, I always buy. Life is short. Enjoy it while you can.

Couldn't agree more, Notec! Well put.

Congrats, glad things worked out for you! Enjoy your new bike.
