V4 Price Negotiations... Does it exist

My dealer offered $500 off msrp for their base V4 so everyone trying to give you an economics lesson here is full of it. My dealer gave a friend $1,750 off msrp on a base 2012 1199 a few months after they were released. I still can't believe the latter myself. He didn't even try to negotiate, salesman was like "yeah so here's what I can do for you."

Suckers pay MSRP. then again people who owned 1199's that spent 25% of their ownership in the shop are the same ones buying a first year V4 so the sucker process starts even before negotiation I guess :D (Not shooting anyone in the foot here I'm one of those suckers)

No, this is supply & demand in action.

I just feel like I can't pay retail cost for any vehicle. My Dealer was not willing to come down, a couple hundred dollars ($700 to be exact) on the V4 base. Is this the going plan of all dealers? I've owned the 1199 and 1299S and both got deals on them. But he's not budging on the V4. Anyone got any type of deal, hopefully in the midwest, on their V4 so far? Could be because the 'riding' season really hasn't started yet and/or new model release... Granted I can afford the MSRP cost, but I can't find it in my soul to pay MSRP cost.

When I bought my 2014 Ducati Monster 1200s from my Manhattan dealer before it was even at the dealerships he gave me $1000 off plus no freight or prep which saved me another $650. I asked for $1500 off MSRP but we settled on $1000 off MSRP plus no freight or prep just so I wouldnt buy the bike from my Long Island dealer. My long island dealer was only discounting the Monster 1200s $400 since i was a new customer. Since then my long island dealer has been bought out (gold coast motorsports) and the new owner gave me $1000 off my 2015 BMW S1000R when I came in with no freight or prep and a discount on mounting parts. Then he game me a huge discount on my 1299 and of course the 0% interest on the bike through Ducati. Then on my 2016 S1000RR which I bought in Oct 2016 he gave me $1500 off plus zero prep and zero freight with a .1 interest rate from BMW and 15% off on all parts and 18% off any helmet , boot or jacket accessories and 15% off of labor. This dealer recognizes customer loyalty which is why i bought 3 bikes in 2.5 years and many of my friends bought 2 to 3 bikes in 1 to 3 years. If you find the right dealer who wants repeat business then you will get your discount

A strong relationship with a dealer can deviate the laws of supply and demand, up to a point. I got a pretty good 'deal' on my Speciale ($41k OTD), within the constraints that you have to more or less pony up to get a hot bike early. This is the third bike I've bought from them in a year, so I get a little special consideration. But there's a limit.

Nothing better than waiting it out if you want to save money, though. That always beats everything. I just bought a leftover '17 Aprilia RSV4, new and the same as the '18, for about $6500 off what I'd have to pay for an '18. The dealer of course has incentives from the factory and will still make some kind of a profit on it, but for lots of reasons they really have to move the leftovers. I got a similar great deal a year ago on a leftover '16 BMW touring bike. There is no better way to save than to wait. But who knows when I could get a Speciale if I waited! There won't be any leftovers of those, I suspect....

My dealer is trying to get me on a few fronts, and I'm just trying to sort out which battles to pick.

MSRP for the bike (Base V4 ($21,195)), which I can stomach.

500 for setup, which I plan to fight.

700 for freight, which I plan to fight.

But my real question is, I qualified as tier 1 for financing (800+ credit score) and they're still telling me that 5.99% is the best they can do. That seems high, should I pick that battle?

Also already got them to agree to swap parts from 1299S to V4 (levers, pegs, gas cap, lithium battery). And 10% off accessories (race seat, black front mudguard).

Curious how you'd all handle the situation. They have the bike sitting in the warehouse, so I'm not fighting anyone for it. And the salesguy has been trying to get me to upgrade since the bike was released. I actually had a deposit down on one that I took back after the unveiling earlier this year. Now I have another deposit down after being impressed with the agility of the bike last week, but also refundable and I'm willing to walk away if I think I'm getting screwed.

Cheers.

There is really not much setup on bikes these days. I think all they do now is get the battery charged and going. In the mmm old days they actually had to final assemble them bike. Freight is well freight and that’s what’s it costs to get it from Italy to your dealer. I think 500 is excessive on the assembly, but you are having them swap lots of parts over which is maybe two hours of labor. I say get that knocked down to 200 at most.

I got $500 off MSRP on my V4s. No other charges on the invoice except for a doc fee of 150. Where I got killed was on sales tax and licensing. Sales tax was 10.3 or 10.4% yikes. Also licensing was $400. The price of living in the Seattle/Bellevue area. Just got my license plate and the registration lists the regional transit authority fee as $300! That is for building light rail and such. I am OK with that as long as they do what they say they will do. I did not really negotiate much but am happy enough with the deal.

Hi guys new here, current Ducati owner. I am thinking about purchasing a V4S. What would you guys consider a good out the door price?

Just bought my V4S last Saturday. The dealer (Velocity Honolulu) was having a special till the end of the month. 10% off all bikes.

It basically ended up coming out to $27500 out the door, because i didn't have to pay assembly, destination charge, and tax with the 10% discount. Normal out the door price was about $30k.

Also was able to put it all on my American express. Almost enough points to fly to vegas.

I will be purchasing a V4S in the next 45 days. I have been to the Albuquerque dealership as well as the Salt Lake City dealership. Next Wednesday I head to the Portland, OR dealership. (I am very thorough) I am curious as to what kind of deal is to be had as I have zero desire to pay MSRP plus all their BS fees. Fortunately, as an Oregon resident, there is no sales tax. I am planning on having the Akrapovic exhaust added as well as radiator guards while they have it apart.

I have read through this thread and it seems as though the dealers do wiggle a bit on price but not to expect a gigantic price slash. I am looking at approximately a 4.5% interest rate from my credit union. I wonder if the dealer can do any better on that.

I bet if you called Gold Coast Motorsports in NY and told them you are in Oregon and you were interested in purchasing a a bike they would discount the bike for you very nice. Reason being is....youre a customer they would never have. Im in an MC in NY and can only ride my harleys. Im friends with a HA member from another state who is the GM of a Harley dealership. Im looking to get either a 2018 or 2019 114 Fat Bob with upgraded paint. Bike retails for $19,100. Prep $900 (........ charge) freight $350, motorvehicle fees, doc fees, and tax. The bike would cost $22,900. The dude I know told me $17,400 for the bike, $300 for doc fees and I pay for shipping to my house $400 and tax. Total $19,639. Saves me $3264. Ben the owner of gold coast who i only deal with gave $1000 off on my 2016 bmw S1000RR. And discounts on my 2015 BMW S1000R and my 1299. Im sure he would give you more that $1000 off. Ask him for $1500 off and you get a company to ship it. Probaby $400. They dont charge prep because as he told me the prep charge is already included in the cost of the bike. Some customers dont know that and are happy when they ask for no prep and the dealer says ok. You have nothing to lose by calling Gold Coast Motorsports. Ask to only speak to Ben. Tell him Aaron his favorite customer told you to call.

Sweet! Thank you! I will call him next week after I visit Motocorsa in Portland. I want them to show me some numbers first. I don't care where I buy it honestly. I want the best deal. Gold Coast Motorsports. Thank you Aaron.

... did you preemptively list the V4S in your "I Ride"?

I can get any Ducati at invoice cost, that would save a bit of cash. That should apply to the V4 and V4S. I actually forgot about that until this thread.

@CSV4 yep. Sure did. It is a foregone conclusion at this point.

@berserkf1 what do you mean? How do I get that deal?

Well I called 3 times and asked to speak to Ben. He was either out to lunch or whatever every time. I left my number and name all three times and never got a call back. Oh well.
