I was messing around last night and I put the VIN of my DUCATI V4'20 at Ducati's website for the recalls
It did found one recall that I have to do.

GEAR SENSOR REPLACEMENT AND COOLING KIT INSTALLATION
05 November 2020
Recall number: CR200
Update date: 25 November 2020
Recall Campaign status: Open

Questions:
- Gear sensor means the QS?
- Wtf is COOLING KIT INSTALLATION

Anyone else?

Gear position sensor. Mounts directly onto the gearbox, and tells the ECU what gear your bike is in.

Cooling kit, to keep the ...... gear position sensor cool.

Yup I have that recall. My gear sensor was failing at 120 mph. Not ....... fun. Didn’t know there was an actual recall till I read this thread and put in my Vin.

I guess they do these recalls when your bike is there for service?? Or do they send you a notice like a car manufacturer??

My CEL came on and bike was in the shop for this, got it replaced, but I guess it wasn't a recall yet. So it says I still have open recall, wonder if they'll replace it again.

cordona and be done.

This is for the gear position sensor, not the quickshifter.

That being said, I have literally the first 2018 base model V4 to touch the roads of the west coast and have 12k-ish miles of PNW commuting, track days, and hooning on the original gear position sensor. Quickshifter gave out at 11k miles. Will probably check and try to get it to the shop for this recall before it becomes a problem, though.

Edit: Checked and it does not apply to my model. Perhaps they changed the sensor in later models to one more prone to failure.

Hi,

This is very interesting as I have had few failure on the gearbox position sensor on my V4s 2018 (Track use only). Also Ducati has release a new reference over time for this sensor but it remain very weak.
I heard few days ago that the V4 superleggera does include an additionnal part in order to help the air flow to the sensor's case, which is probably the best option giving the high temperature environment.
Anyway, it would be very help full to understand what the COOLING KIT INSTALLATION is made off... So please let us know once you get a feedback from your local dealer (Part ref would be great)

Thanks

This is interesting to see some of the same issues still because I had to have the gear position sensor re-calibrated on my '13 1199R (I know it's not a V4) at 12000 km.

I have the first 18 base model in Australia and my sensor crapped out twice and it’s in getting the modified one and the spacer now. Only 4,500 kms

You must be lucky

The gear position sensor on my 2018 V4S track bike has failed once so far. I made a spacer out of thin gasket material for the replacement sensor and it hasn't failed yet. I'll probably spring for the upgraded sensor and cooling kit when more details are available on that.

Interestingly, the new sensor worked straight away, no need for a relearning procedure at the dealer.

Just got my recall done today. New sensor + a little cooling duct that is supposed to push air over it to cool it better, according to the service dept.

Have a photo of the duct? What is the part number of the parts they installed?

It’s hard to get a good pic with the fairing on so I have yet to actually get a good look. Attached the parts list though.
