V4 vs V2 Tested

Sherpa23 I haven't yet. Is it fantastic? I did ride the BMW HP4 Race and it was a great bike but it doesn't have the low and mid like my 1299SA.

Well I have not ridden the V4 so I don't know how it compares but the light weight of the SL is a game changer for me.

I actually didn't think the low and mid was all that good (compared to my 1098R) until I changed the exhaust to a WSBK set up and I got a ton of hp (18hp) right in the middle and a little more on top (8hp). That said, the top end was always there and it has always felt insane to me. So based on your comment, wishing you could have it both, I was curious if you'd tried the Superleggera.

Wow hp4 race, that would have been a treat, light as .... and insane top end I would think?

Thanks for the feedback. The RC51 is in my top 10 greatest bikes of all time...see my Ducati Killer video. But no surprise it's not the greatest track bike at almost 500lbs. As for V4 vs V2, ride an 1199/1299 and you'll understand what I'm saying. Your observation that there weren't many differences in the weight and ergonomics vs other 4 cyl bikes goes to reinforcing my point about how compact and nimble the 1199/1299 is. The V4 is a high speed track machine that prefers wide open spaces, long sweeping corners and straights, and requires spinning the engine up around corners to take advantage of the counter crack. That combined with more weight over the front-end makes for more work in the tight twisty canyons, which is most of my riding these days. The V4 is a rocket ship for sure, which is why most people bought it since the RSV4 is a superior and more intuitive, stable V4 track bike. I'm not saying I wouldn't love owning a Ducati V4. It's a blast. And if you're a Ducati devotee I get the justification. But i only have room for one supersport bike and the twin wins for my riding. And yes, when it's a 100 + degrees out here, I'm in tennis shoes and jeans.

Agreed on depends on your riding and within saying that the 1299 was a big step above the 1199 as a street /canyon type bike .
I like the track and the V4 is another level to the twin when it comes to mirrors plastic front guard it's no concern to me but the stability of the V4 compared to the previous bike is sooooo much better .
The V4 is just a confidence inspiring ride still get good feedback through the chassis but I feel I'm riding better quicker other than fighting the other bike especially the 1199 .
The RSV4 is now a 10 year old platform it is no surprise it feels more intuitive but the Ducati will make you happier once set up IMO .

Yeah the HP4R weights in at 320 lbs and I got to ride it at my bucket list track Laguna Seca it was definitely amazing for sure. I will say though fo the money I would rather get the 1299SL. I really only base that on the cost though. They are both 85k bikes but I only get tot he track twice a month from April to October and with the Ducati being able to ride it on the street makes the 85k seem not that outrageous. Lol I will say the transmission was fantastic, between that and the light weight it's a winner for sure.
