I am guessing your lacking the basic knowledge and technical ability with these bikes from the current models going back to the 1098 or 999 platforms. I don't think you know the difference or price difference from say Motec or Marelli? The V4 and the 99 shares all the same failures in most cases the 4 is worse due to the additional garbage that fails with in the main harness loom. My bikes don't throw codes or fail cause I build my own harness's and that includes the airbox harness. $80k 1299SL or $100k V4SL both come with same quality built harness that's supplied on say a 959 that's absolute garbage. You buy a 99R/ V4R it should at least come with electronics package under $10 such as Motec.

Yeah, Mick is the guy who said the V4 is a failure and the $17-22k electronics package should come standard.

Ducati does not so the dash, ecu, loom and connectors would have to be purchased from Motec they do have everything. Contacting one of the teams in BSB like Rapido to try to acquire a base map be the next step.

Agreed. At least other manufacturers make the “kit” ecu and harness available for purchase. Does Ducati?

Because that's something I have on a notepad...If I said 10 or 10k its not going to elevate your argument.

If you stop shitting all over bikes some dude took a loan out for and makes their weekend passion you'd get further down the road.

You have a lot of knowledge and I enjoy most of your posts. But, you have this way of shitting all over stuff that other people enjoy. Pump the brakes. Its all good.

I put my V4 through a few years of commuting every single way in Washington. It was my only vehicle at the time, so I rode it through torrential downpours. Even rode it through snow to work once like an absolute idiot, barely survived, and got road de-icer ....... everywhere.

Never any electrical issues. SBU said they are working with Motec to build a harness that works with the stock ECU and electronics but eliminates all the unnecessary plugs like lights, fans, purge valve, etc. That's my only gripe with the electronics really, I hate how so many things are tied to error codes that have absolutely nothing to do with the ability of the motor to put power to the wheel. I hate how modern machines scream errors at you because some useless sensor is unplugged. My track bike is a mess of plugs not going anywhere with block-offs and .... jammed in them because just cutting it off and sealing up the harness would make it freak the .... out.

I use the Tamburini harness on the 99s. They send you a build sheet asking what you want and what you don’t want. It’s I believe made by Renvale who do a lot of F1,GP, Marelli etc harnesses. It’s a full spec Motorsport harness and it’s plug and play. They were talking about doing a V4 harness. Maybe shoot them an email.

I don't think SBU is doing anymore development work around the V4 I saw something recently they shifted focus back on the Zx10. Ducati had Mitsu design the electronics in that way so if a single component fails the bike throws codes or doesn't operate. The V4/V2 using Siemens electronics Ducati wanted it to be more hack proof then Mitsu. The next gen bikes will be going to a whole new level if the bike fails your stranded. The user or DIY'ers can't fix it and it will have to be plugged into a computer to be operational again.

Stock setup here, its been flawless. That said the right to repair bills appearing give some hope for the future, IMHO anyone should be able to log into their vehicle and code it.
