V4S - experience with linear links?

110 is the heaviest Spring Ohlins makes, abs it’s what I use with a riding weight of about 260 pounds.

A 105 if it’s a track dedicated bike is about right for your weight…100 if you also street ride it.
Thanks, so I’m in the zone I think with that linkage. I have a 100 spring that might be just too soft with the linear link. Probably the right spring is 105. Will do sag and test ride.

I just went over all this with an Ohlins tech, and because I’m getting my fat ass in shape I asked specifically about the right rear spring for 210 pounds.

You’ll also want to do 11.0 front inner fork springs if you’re not running after market front forks.
I have FGRT forks with 1.0 springs. Might get them serviced and go a bit firmer.
Thanks again, and good luck with the weight loss.

In general, the guidance from Forsaken is to consider going to a heavier spring and to speed up rebound on the shock after you add the linear link. They recommended at least 3 clicks on rebound (3 clicks less damping, meaning faster rebound).

That’s useful info, thanks bro, haven’t installed mine yet, will soon along with an extended swingarm

OK I am back to trying to dial out the rear pumping on the gas on corner exit. The linear link didn't solve it and forsaken advised going to a heavier spring and speeding up rebound. I had originally gone down from the stock 95 to a 90 spring during revalve (pre-linear link) and now going back to the 95 (post linear link) to see if that combination improves things.

Interestingly, 95 spring is much taller than 90. Will report back after track time if it improves the situation.

That 95 is the wrong p/n. It should be 21040. I ran into this when I tried to get a stiffer spring. You may be able to get the right preload, maybe not.

I ran into this when I bought a 105nm from SBU. They sent me a V4R rear spring, which for whatever reason, is longer. I couldn't get the preload I wanted and SBU took care of it.

That's interesting. That's what my 18 s came with stock.

Why did you go to a 105? That's very heavy? Do you have a linear link?

Keep in mind with the 2020+ bikes there was a linkage change, so it doesn't directly compare with bikes older than that. My 21 V4S came with a 85nm vs the 95nm springs of the older bikes.

I'm 6'-3" 240lbs in full gear so a 105nm in the rear and 11nm in the forks got me the preload and sag I was looking for. I could get there on the stock fork springs, but the preload was maxed out. Better to be in the middle of the range.

@RickD996

Okay guys I have an update. Rick and I have been going back and forth and he gave me some settings to try and dial out the rear pumping.

Recap: running a forsaken linear link, I went back to a 95 rear spring from a 90 and set the rear shock length to 313.5 mm (On the electronic shock that's about the maximum length).

After five sessions in two different tracks, happy to report that pumping is noticeably minimized.
