well i was able to really try out WET MODE in essentially monsoon conditions and let me say that it was smooth sailing until i got on the George Wash Bridge and in stop and go the bike died....yes it was incredibly wet but man that was scary....and then i got the bike started and rode a bit more and it died again.....i made it off the bridge and rode on the West Side HW and there were literally rivers and the bike was having rough going.....traffic slows to crawl and bike dies AGAIN....coasted and put her in N and got her fired up again.....man what a day....from ineptitude that caused me to not beat the rain to the bike struggling through bodies of water....i dried and detailed her and she's cleaner than before i left .....

and i am now trying a DP tail bag......sick of having my pockets full of things and backpacks are not my thing.......here's crappy iphone pic:

I rode back from the National Ducati Rally in Hanmer New Zealand in torrential down pours (could only see approximately 250m ahead), I kept in race hi after trying wet mode for approximately 5 KM's, really felt it was flat and to be honest boring, hard to pass quickly and efficiently, but then again I enjoy riding in the wet. As for it cutting out, could it have got water in the plugs under the seat as I have read on here before, but that usually causes a can line error if I recall, they are hooked into the fuel pump and this could have stopped it running. Did it lose all dash power or just cut out? Glad you got home and managed to dry her down.

screen was on with no errors, but power cut and i was hitting starter over and over until she fired up....scary as hell with traffic behind me...luckily i had a day glow yellow jacket over my armor.......and a white helmet....

i enjoy riding in the rain but this was really coming down hard and difficult to see up ahead......and yeah the bike is clean enough now to eat off of......

thx

Good to hear that you made it through in one piece, I can imagine that was a quite a scary experience.

While in the topic, 2 weeks ago I had the luxury to try out the wet mode on a wet track (just finished raining).
Felt awesome. Felt so awesome I wouldn't mind doing it again.

I have a basic question about the wet mode (or any of the other 2 for that matter) is there any fundamental difference between the 3 riding modes? meaning that if I set up the parameters equally in them, they will run the same right? (in other words, 'wet" "sport" and "race" are just names)

yes from what i understand they can be made essentially the same, if you were silly enough to do that....for eg u can put 195Hi and ABS off in Wet Mode and call it ...... Wet Mode (note: u cant customize the mode names in this sw iteration)...

I was thinking more on setting engine 120, DTC 8 in race mode and call it ...... race mode...

well that conversely works too.... maybe then you could also get a custom sticker kit (good vendors here for that) to match your kustom modez: DUCATI ...... CORSA in the ultimate expression of, well....ask a question....

that is a great idea! I can see it, red stickers over red fairing! (white over white will work too)

Ad Reinhardt is one of my fave artists....u r really onto something here.....god this forum is...uh.....awesome.....

Maybe it's just me, but every Ducati I have had has been flaky in huge downpours. Some electrical weirdness always seems to happen when they get really soaked. Most of the time it would be something like high beams getting stuck on or turn signals coming on randomly or not working, etc. I don't think they like water. :)

I was caught in heavy rain on tuesday morning with my bike in factory wet mode, and it triggered a check engine light along with an ABS warning saying ABS was unavailable. When I got home I gave the sensors a wash with the garden hose and the errors went away.
