What Did You Do For Your Panigale Today?

So today had to get the bike registered. I already had started taking bits off to put new stuff on and then had to refit the nose so I could attach the mirrors. Rode it like that to the inspection station. So now it looks like a street fighter. Also finished off a bit of garage/workshop bling. I have been adding power points and making the wiring neater so decided to go with some nice stainless steel finished quad power points. Now have 5 of these and some matching light switches with cool blue LED backlight and USB wall points around the workshop.

Nice brad love those wheels as well, what mirrors are they? I'm looking for a set that's easy to remove for track days.

They are Moto Science. It is a guy that used to advertise on here. His name is Hermann and his customer service is good too. I have had them for a long time. He has some different styles. The LED on them is not quite as bright as OEM but they do not vibrate as much and do not stick out as far. You have to sometimes bend your are a touch to see what is behind you. They fold like the stock ones too.

Thought I’d add this here. I have the Ducati race exhaust on my 1299R FE which has a carbon fiber exhaust pan. I’ve noticed the heat shield material has shredded. I can smell on hard canyon runs a burning plastic odor. I’m assuming this is it.
I’m going to show my dealer pics. No idea on warranty for such a pan. But it wasn’t cheap.

You can sell me that exhaust cheap if it’s giving you too much grief! :D

Fixed a leaking sump. Dumped the oil. Cleaned the mating surfaces, nran a new bead of liquid gasket and tord everything to 13 Nm, then safety wire.

Job done. Now to the air-box...

According to those behind me on track, my bike was burning oil (blue smoke in exhaust like a 2-stroke). This combined with a previously undiagnosed oil leak (see above) had me worried. However, after fixing the leaking seal on the sump I figured the smoking issue may be due to an over enthusiastic application of air-filter oil during routine maintenance this winter. (May was my first track weekend this year and my first outing since my huge, high-speed crash last September.)
Sure enough, I had applied way too much oil to the air filter and much of the excess had pooled in the air-box.
Well, it’s all cleaned out now and ready to be put back together and the engine run to check the seal on the sump. [emoji28] I was worried I might have needed more engine work.

I dropped my bike for a rookie mistake, I wanted to go left and pushed my right arm while leaning left so the bike went right and I went over the curb and laid it on the grass, luckily only the pivot bolt broke and some blemishes which I buffed out.

Thanks for posting always good to see how others do stuff. Seeing your drill just reminds me I want one.

Thanks for the link, luckily I was able to buff it out with some rubbing compound, but will be saving the link, I want to add some character to my bike

Thanks.
I just picked that up this winter, which has been one of rebuilding after a high-speed crash.
Drill works for everything I need to do on the bike (drilling bolts and body work, making brackets, etc.) and was less than $70 at harbor freight. [emoji106]

Still stealing bits from the 899 to go on the 1199, today it was Ti bolts.

I’ve been replacing bolts all winter as well. Switching out OEM for pre-drilled race-spec. Something extra to do on the track bike during lockdown while everything was apart.
Anyway, I wanted to ask you about your wheels. I have the same set on my Triumph Speed Triple and they made a HUGE difference - dropping 14 lbs of rotating mass changed the entire riding experience. My questions to you are:
Did you have forged wheels on your Duc before; and,
If so, did you notice much of a difference?
I am very impressed with the wheels on my Triumph (30,000+ miles and 12 years on them); however, there is unlikely to be THAT much of a weight difference going from forged aluminum wheels on the duck, which are already relatively light.
Do you happen to know the change in weight? The only specs I’ve seen comparing always states the difference to the cast wheels from the base model and not the forged wheels.
