What do you think of 195Hi Mode?

I prefer 195Lo for riding on the road....the throttle is much much lighter than on my old 'Blade and on bumpy country roads in the UK I find the 195Hi a little too "trigger happy"....looking forward to testing it on track this summer though....

195/hi

Rode in 195 /lo for 800 miles, tried race mode then changed sport to hi. Feels more natural to me.

In race mode maybe. I have the opposite experience in Sport. When I was at the track, I had it in Sport/195HI/TC5 (default).

On the front straight, i could twist to the stop and never wheelie. The revs would slow noticably at the top of the range, so I knew it was pulling power. Front wheel never once lofted.

I should clarify that I was in Sport Mode and I only used ABS2 (some rear wheel lift) and ABS1 (no restrictions on stoppies).

Put the bike in first gear and hold the throttle open. Let me know when it loops over ; There is no wheelie control.

I like 195hi in race but find the front does not come up for me unless I pop the clutch in second.

So ... majority view seems to be no wheelie control, but a couple of views say very difficult to lift the front wheel, even in 195Hi. What's up? Are people doing something differently when on the gas? Just curious - still in my first few hundred k's on my own and not ready to crank it.

Because of the longer wheel base ( thank god ) over the 1098/1198 and the reduced torque ( thanks again ) the bike geometry makes lifting the front wheel much less of a problem. Its a great thing and has nothing to do with electronics.

However with that said once your over 8k > it still pulls the wheel nicely but very controllably compared to the older bikes. It makes this bike so much easier to ride FAST it awesome!

I like the 195hi mode better, both in terms of engine feel (reminds me of the 1198 more) and suspension feel (195lo suspension is much softer, feels like its pitches back and forth too much). I still don't have my 1199 base yet, but I was fortunate to have a 3 hour demo ride on an S model on my favorite roads and was able to thoroughly evaluate the bike, while riding hard. Wet mode was pretty tame, it actually felt slower than my 2009 Kawasaki ZX-6R. The bike is not perfect, it has some typical Ducati quirks that I didn't like but honestly I didn't care after I felt what the bike can do... I was pushing this thing harder after an hour of riding it than I ever did on the 1198 in almost two years of owning it. It really did turn quicker than my Kawi 600.

I've got a modified sport mode ABS 1 DTC 2 EBC 1 and 195hi. I'm riding through the city during the week and love having it so responsive surfing the traffic. I find the lo and wet a little sluggish at lower rpm

195hi for me. The sharp throttle response makes it much easier to use the throttle to help steer in turns. 195lo is too soft and lethargic for me.

Interesting points.

The wheelbase is only 7mm longer than 199, so not sure whether this is really relevant? i.e. is the impact only minor? On the other hand the weight distribution here is now 52 front/48 rear, compared to 50/50 with the 1199. Maybe that adds something.

Yes, believe it or not 7mm from a leverage stand point it is relevant and your right, weight bias is a factor as well. So a lot of things are in play here.

have it in Race mode, 195hi and leaving it there........the throttle response is much quicker and it feels more lively. Yes its a little less than perfect fueling down low but i will take the trade-off.
