I feel like having a digital camera is as important as having a motorcycle helmet. What kind of digital camera do you shoot with?

I use a Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS6, great features, Leica lens and reasonable price

older D5000 now i like black and white AE cannon thats whats up people. you have to do everything by hand

Ditto…I bought a Lumix DMC-ZS6 for my wife last Christmas.

If you haven’t read it yet, get The Silicon Eye by George Gilder, it is a fast read and you will want to own a Lumix consumer camera when you understand all the technology in the CMOS chips.

I use a Nikon D200. Old habits are hard to break; I was the Photo Editor of my high school yearbook.

More importantly, what cameras are people using to video tape while they ride 

I am currently using a Leica D-Lux 4, it's a really great compact camera for everyday use. The only drawback is it's zoom. however, it really shines in low light situations, mostly indoors and night photography.

Used to have a Nikon D300s and 3 lenses till my car got broken into after a late night drive back home exhausted from the track(car) grrr....... now I'm all left with a GoPro HD and a iphone 4 lol

Nikon D80.

Due for replacement soon ... actually not so soon, as I want new boots/gloves first :):)

Canon EOS 60D along with a few lenses: Canon 100 - 400 for sport and a Tokina 11-16 wide angle, along with the standard system Canon lenses

I had an Olympus E510 because I thought it'd be good to use all my good lenses from when I had an OM1 and OM2, but the E510 underwhelmed in many ways so Santa listened and bought me the Canon for Christmas. She's a good ...., is Santa.

I have a Canon 5D and a Drift HD (for my helmet)
The fun parts of the Drift is the rotating lens and a remote control (like a watch)

I have just upgraded.

GoPro HD I + II

Canon 5D Mark II

16-35mm L (wide angle)
50mm Prime L f/1.2
24-70mm L

This whole kit costs the same as a second hand 696.

Canon EOS 400D (XT Rebel in the US). Okay camera but to be honest, for the work I do, a smaller hi res digital compact will do the same job if not better.

A buddy of mine deals with this supplier. For variois items, part of that is the nice array of sports cameras: www.fc-moto.de/sports cameras
