Here is the situation. A track coach told me im at the limit of my 600. not because i am great (although i am great) but physically i am too big for the 600 now.
i was told the only real way to get faster is to get suspension work done to my 07 ninja. here is the situation

im 5 11 225 and my bike is totally stock. the coach said i need the bike set up properly to improve anymore. im just to big for what the bike can handle right now. in the past it wasnt a big deal cause i was a beginner. anyway i have a zip tie on the forks and i bottom that out every time.

for now i tighten up the suspension to its stiffest levels but i am thinking i need a new track bike. (good excuse to buy something right).

my ninja is an 07 with 3500 miles on it. i can add what would be about 2k in suspension work however im not married to the bike.

i could sell it and buy another 600 with the work already done but do i really want another 600.

i could sell it and buy a litre bike :D

advice from the track guys please.

Is it a dedicated track bike or still have all the road stuff on it? If it's already converted, and you know it's history and condition then probably just want to drop the money. Usually you will need to re-valve and re-spring an aftermarket setup anyway unless the previous owner was similar in size and riding style.

If it's mostly a streetbike, then sell it as that and buy a prepped 600. Probably won't lose much money as trackbikes have poor resale value, even with all the goodies.

its all track but stock with the exception of brembro master full exhaust and new sproket. i have all the street parts that i took off.

I would just get the suspension re-sprung and be done with it, probably the cheapest way unless you want to convert it back to stock sell it and then buy a dedicated track bike with some goodies but you still might need to get it re-sprung.

re sprung front then i need rear spring and shock is that correct? what is the cost of that?

Turn the Panigale into a track bike because its light weight like a 600 with lots of power and the suspension is stiff enough, handles great and its has lots of head room to grow and polish your skills. Keep the HP4 in pristine condition because its rare. Sell the 600.

not sure but call MarkBilt at NJMP and he will give you a price I don't want to lead you astray.

unfortunately i live in south fl now. i haven't seen mark in over a year. maybe a good trip in the summer time

I'm not sure who all is in FL. I would check on the CCS forum and see who the go-to shop is for the local race crowd. Best to use someone that is likely to be around the trackdays you are going to be at if you have the opportunity.

Hard to beat the reputation of Thermos Man for suspension. He makes it easy to ship it to him and has a form on his website that will assist with the process. The voodoo he worked on my Daytona simultaneously made the bike more appropriate for my ability and gave me room to advance. I plan on sending him the Pani suspension this winter.

you will probably have the most success with the BMW.

easiest to ride and not too fincky to set up when getting faster.

the panigale will take all you have to make it work, while going through tires in the meantime.

I'm curious what makes you say that about the panigale, can you share what you've experienced?

fyi im not tracking the hp4. its either the ducati or i will buy a new (new bike not new model) bmw or r1 and trade the ducati for a v4r. for now i am returning it to stock and selling all my after market parts except exhaust

my last problem is im coming up on that 15k service which costs like 2500 bucks i dont really want to pay that. i think i can track the 1199 for a year or so and trade it in

Taking what other club racers are saying.

I rode 1:41 at barber on an SV650 in a race and 1:43 on the 1199 on a trackday.

The only 3 times I rode an S1000RR I felt it was really way / boring to ride. Except the turbine boost. Dude that rode my bike got off and said he felt raped by my Bella... :D

For a track bike, ride what's easy to ride, good on tire consumption and cheap to crash.
