11. How fast would you like it to go?

dude:" how many gears does it has?"
me"6"
dude"so it's got 5 speeds and a reverse?"
me: 0_o

I always say that I ask my bike, how fast can you go? And my bike responds, how fast can you go?
Now THAT is an awesome answer!!
I really don't get why it bothers people if someones asks how fast a bike will go or if it wheelies.
People love speed and most of us do too, that's why we buy these great machines!
Its just human nature to ask about a nice bike, nice car "how fast does it go"
If people ask I answer.
And if people see an awesome bike, especially maybe non riders, they wanna know if it will wheelie!
I used to own a Ferrari 308 and people always asked if it was fast and my honest answer was "not as fast as it looks" It was an old car and not anywhere near fast by today's standards.....but damn was it good looking and sounded great!
Now the "how much did it cost" question...thats a little forward in my opinion but depending on the feel I get for the person I will even answer that one.

The last thing I want to come across as is a Ducati "snob"

Cop pulls me over and says "You must have been doing 100 mph when you passed me. Didn't you see me?"
To which I reply "Officer, if I had seen you I wouldn't have been doing 100 mph"

He smiled and let me go with a warning :D

Normal thing people say that just makes me shrug is the standard lines:-

That thing will kill you

Glad you're doing your bit for organ donation

Or my favourite

I'd never trust myself on something like that, I'd just kill myself!
(what do you say to that? Pass them a gun and say play with this and see how you get on, oh and I think something might be stuck in the barrel, have a look....)

LMAO haha. Just today, my bike is underneath its dust cover at work and a mature man(customer) comes in. He says whats hiding under there? Ok forget the obvious (a bike) I took the cover off and he says "oh a Duca" trying to be all cool like. Then he says something about the Brough Superior Lawrence of Arabia rode and asks if the Pani does more than a 100mph:confused: I could only nod. Dont know where this guy has been hiding;)

Are your gold wheels made out of solid gold. WTF!

Haha this is turning into a great thread. Hven"t stopped laughing since I started going through it. What about one of the stupidest questions "Is that your bike?" Helmet and leathers on key in hand and no other bikers present,er no,I always dress up like this lol.

I went around my buddy's place a couple of weeks ago. He drives a Honda cruiser. Conversation starts with so, how is the Ducati. I respond with fantastic, I just bought another one and just finished heavily modding it. However, yesterday I bought a new car. He responds with what car ? I answer 2013 BMW 550i, then he says which options did you get. I answer all of them, you know technology, executive, luxury, M sports, etc. He responds with cool nice car. I respond with yeah, everyone wants to drive it which suits me as I am really not that much into driving a car, you know me boats and bikes are my thing.

Then he casually asks ... What I don't understand about the Ducati is you buy a performance motorcycle so why the hell do you have to spend some much on modifying it ?

Good one:) and good question. I've been asking myself that question for years but somehow the only answer I give myself is: "because I can and i want to"

hahaha the irony! I just got asked how fast my bike will go....

I've been riding 33 years and only ever had a handful of people ever ask me that. Then I read this thread and someone asked me how fast my bike will go. Quick, someone ask me if I've won the lottery yet.... LOL

I was on my f800gs and had to admit to the guy that I'd never opened it fully out so I really don't know how fast it will go. Probably not very fast cos its a bloody POS fatass BMW!

I have a problem with the price question too, especially when it comes from someone that can't even spend that much on a car. So I end up saying a much lower number.

The strange thing is I never felt the compulsion to mod my non-Ducati bikes so much

I really can't explain this

OK, comments that I really can't even to start to fathom, since I often find myself basking in the sheer beauty of my Tric:

1) I bet you regret buying it, now production is not more limited

2) I bet you regret buying it, now the R came out
