I have a deposit on a S ABS. Just joined your forum today. Is there anywhere in the eastern USA that I will be able to swing a leg over one sometime this winter before the delivery date? My sweet CBR1000rr Repsol is on consignment at the Ducati dealership in Charlotte, NC. You can see it on their website just in case any of you have friends interested.
And, While I'm at it, will I REALLY appreciate the difference between these two machines? Thanks.

Pick your city: International Motorcycle Shows

I would be extremely surprised is you were not impressed with the differences between the CBR1000RR and the 1199. Having thrown a leg over the Honda a few times, I can appreciate the fact that the CBR, in reality, does noting wrong. The CBR is a very fast, capable bike for the road or track. Perfection in a lot of ways for most. However, in the end, the CBR was always just a tool for going fast, a tool that I rode on and not felt a part of. Clinically sterile, cold tool.

On the other hand, though my 1198s is not perfect, it is the prefect for me. The beauty of the styling, the boom of the big twin, the feel of the bike, the feeling that you are a part of the bike, something special, like the bike has a soul of its own. This is the passion that you often hear us Ducatisti speak of.

With the 1199's specification, innovation, styling, beauty and sheer performance, I can't see how anyone would not appreciate the difference. :)

Thanks, DRSapp,
Yeah, my other bike is Hondas old v-twin super bike, the RC51. It has soul (and torque!), but missing the steering damper, slipper clutch, and a bit heavier, just more lovable, and I hope the 1199 has the same effect on me.

RC51? Nice indeed. My favorite Honda by far.

As you love the RC51, I'm sure you'll love the 1199 even more.

The International Motorcycle Show is coming to Charlotte February 24-26.....check your local posting for more info.

Is this your bike... Honda Repsol 1000rr ?

I just went to the show in New York 2 weeks back. The 1199s its there. I ordered the Tricolore from my dealer but they don't seem to have one in the country yet.

Not to burst your bubble, but in NY they would not let anyone sit on the bike. Hopefully they will be nicer in Charlotte.

I was able to sit on it in NY , i was initially worried about the location of the rear shock and if my calf would touch in right hand turns.

I didnt see or feel where the rear shock would touch my calf.

The fit and of the black plastic pieces near the upper fairing was poor.

The fit of a bunch of the plastic parts was poor, but the corporate line was that these are pre-production and that the production bike fit and finish will be top notch. We'll see.

You are lucky, they would not let me sit on it no matter what I did.
