but, if you use bolts to secure the module make sure they don't stick out far on the inside of your fairing which CAN RESTRICT YOUR STEERING BE VERY CAREFUL .

TAKE your time for routing and such, I have probably highlighed some area in the paper installation manual. have fun!!!!!

Couldn't you just use some industrial 3M double sided tape to hold it to that fairing instead of drilling bolts through it?

it is entirely up to you but we do not use any double sided 3m on any ducatis since things are very different @10000 rpm :) if in doubt please use the original installation instructions.

Are modules for the 2015 bikes available yet? I'm not seeing anything for the 2015 R on the website.

RB Evo - auto adapt question

PLEASE! do not adjust O2 sensor = 43 , this has been calibrated for the type of O2 sensor being used on Panigale. However

Max Enrichment and Enlean. can go +10, -10 no prob.

RBo2 box in Auto adaptivty screen must be checked on, bottom left of the screen and when you make the changes click on apply on bottom right before leaving the screen.

if you have any questions at all e-mail me your auto adaptivity screen shot and I can walk you thru.... [email protected]
and THANK YOU for using RapidBike

Hi all,

I have an 899 Panigale with the RB Evo module fitted. Had the base map modified / optimized on a dyno, target AFR was around 13. WIth this the bike ran very well, big improvement over the stock + Termi map update.

Read the info on this thread the other day, downloaded the RB 'free' software and checked the auto-adapt screens. The target (O2Sens) is set at 42, and max/min enrich are a +8 / -8%, and start-rpm is set at 6000rpm. The auto-adapt tables show values between -6 and -8 for most cells (over 6000rpm). I feel auto-adapt is "correcting" to a more lean target, and therefore has (slowly) undone the optimization to AFR 13.

In above message YTuran indicates 43 should be used, which is a more richer target.

1) Would it be wise to change my value of 42 to 43?
2) When making that change, is it best to let auto-adapt work from there, or to reset the maps?
3) When I click apply on the bottom right, does it save straight into the Evo?

thanks for your respons,
Alex

Not a huge difference between 43 or 42, that must have been a long time since I posted. We have been setting it at 42 , go with that. adaptivity will take care of the rest of tuning .

Here's what I want to know.... I was planning on having EDR install a RB on my '15 R...but was informed by another member it might void my warranty. I asked the dealer and she referred me to the manual which reiterates that any problem with the engine linked to a modification will void a warranty. I am not ready to void it just yet...and I also wouldn't want to get involved trying to PROVE the RB was not behind any warranty issue.

Anyone run into any issues?

Mat

Well, we have 21 dealers and 8 of them being an actual Ducati + dealers . We never had an issue where Rapid Bike clashed with a warranty claim, I think the reality is how your dealer looks at it, but the law says they can not discriminate or deny or refuse to look at your bike based on your modifications or determined it is caused by your modifications because something you have other than ducati oem part on the bike. In Europe they can but not in our country :)

Again, please do not take my work for it, we don't want to piss off your dealer or they you what they can or not tell you.... this is entirely between you and your dealership. Luckily all of my 21 dealers which almost all of them are actual motorcycle dealers (+2 in Canada now ) as soon as they become familiar with Rapid Bike , they stop worrying....

You actually have it reversed. Ducati is the one that has to prove the rapid bike caused the engine failure. You don't have to prove anything.

Do you have or know of any dealers in my area that sells the RapidBike? My 1299S just will not run right and it is getting outrun at the track on the straights by GSXR 1000's ! The bike handles great but It is VERY aggravating to pass someone and hold them off all the way around the track only to have them pass me like I was on a 600cc bike on the straightaway !! The dealer here in Austin has really tried to fix the problem but it is just not right.. it pops upon acceleration and on de acceleration. seems to not run smooth and fire correctly under heavy acceleration and it does not pull strong between 4500 to 8000 rpm and has weak low end throttle response. . They loaded the Racing EVO program and it helped but this last weekend I got stomped at the track again! My old 2011 ZX10 would kick its ass! I thought this was supposed to be a bad ass bike with it's 1285 cc oversquare motor and the latest electroncs etc. I even bought the new Akropovic slip on's (not cheap at $3500) in desperation to get rid of the cats and it still didn't help! I have an awful amount of money tied up in this bike and it is slow... It is a real bummer... I would like to know if there are any dyno shops that can custom tune the bike and would the rapid Bike unit allow a tuner to custom tune the bike for each gear?

I really love this bike and the way it looks and handles but it is just not running correctly and no amount of guessing with trying to load other preset maps is working.

i'd try to get this straight with ducati first before trying to have a pigyback solution fix it.

I agree with Phl, it sounds like there are other issues going on with the motor which you know already. Have Ducati look it over and I inspect before you put a RB module on it. RB modules work great I have one on my bike but not sure it will fix those problems. Hope it goes well.

Well, I would have to say, don't add another variation that could be be seen as a faulty component in the process of getting your bike run right by the dealership. Sure RB will work but if you are already feeling the bike is not strong enough or in my opinion something isn't right , then I would probably hold off on Rb until the 1299 is at least running decent.

When somebody complains about the 1199 power and such , here at our shop I usually tell people give it some time and tell him , it is a mad bike and you need to be mad to ride it, power is there , you are just not tapping into it!!! :)

We'll have plenty of the RB kits no worries. I think you might need a dyno session to prove that something isn't right with the bike, if dyno run shows what you are feeling with the bike then you are going to have a better case when you go to the dealership , have hp/tq /afr read also make sure they get an RPM signal as well so you can display the RPM on the chart as well.

In order to mount the RB module in my 1299S, I need to relocate the Ohlins module (pics below) a bit up and to the left. Anyone knows if this module has any kind of gyros and/or accelerometers and thus shouldn't be moved from its original position ???

I know this is not the IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) but just want to make sure it is ok to relocate it.

Thanks !!!

In case somebody is interested, the reply form Ohlins USA is:

Our SCU should be able to be moved with no issues. There is an IMU on the bike that contains the Gyro, but it is not in our black box.
