Hey! I'm waiting for my Panigale v4s to arrive and I'm not sure about which exhaust to choose yet.. Couldn't find a definitive answer to this question –
Which is the better choice and why? – Akrapovic vs. Termignoni 4uscite.

I like them both, Akra is ok I guess in terms of looks and sound, but it is so much more expensive than 4uscite, can anyone who knows can explain why that is?
Termi – I like the design, it kind of sound better in videos and to my surprise its also cheaper, but the thing I'm worried about is that the tail section is going to be too heavy and when I add the licence plate, it will look too "stuffy".

Personally I prefer the Termi system. I think the Termi system is Stainless steel and the Akra system is Titanium i believe, so that would definitely contribute to cost. Also the Akra is a Ducati Performance part so probably adding to the cost. Performance wise i think both systems have the same potential or the difference would be negligible. So pick whatever system you like more and fits your budget.

I dont think there can definitively be a better system. Its like which bike is the best? There is no black and white answer

Both are available in full titanium.

Both do the same thing and pretty much offer the same performance.

Which do you prefer the look of?

Budget isn't really something to be considered. If you buy the cheaper one, solely due to cost, whenever you see the other one, you'll wish you bought it.

An extravagance is never regretted. You never miss that bit of money. You'll always wish you'd bought the one you wanted, rather than the one that made more sense.

Termi has been with Ducati from the get go, any time you heard termi it was with Ducati, and termi has been testing with Ducati for a very long time. Akra has always been a jap bike brand and with Yamaha for a long time, and you can put full akra on a r1 for 1500-1800 bucks, so they group with Ducati now and presto it’s a 8k exhaust if you get the dealer to do. No thanks, termi all the way and akra looks like .... IMO.

This is the way...

The only way

Termi is smoked outta the game

WSBK system that prohibits you from adjusting rear preload

Yes Termi was with Ducati from the get go but Akrapovic is no Japanese company and Yamaha was not with them forever get the facts straight. Graves was what they ran for years and switched to Akro just few years ago.

Don on the other hand wouldn't know any different he has had neither brand.

What? More lies. Have experience with both brands. I do agree with you regarding @Roc post tho. Termi is even dumber than Akra. Duc had Termi for all those years and what happened? Akra started building race pipes (lots of different versions) and GIVING them to team Ducati to try. Termi never gave Ducati anything for free. Now who does Ducati push? Oops.

If I had a v4 I wouldn’t want either of the systems the OP is considering so I abstained from voting : )

In terms of why the Akra is so expensive. Easy answer. When regular dealers (not including Ducati dealerships) could get Akras for Ducatis 899/959/1199/1299 and other older models from Parts Unlimited the pricing was around $4410 for the Akra Evolution for example. And you could find it discounted online around 10% bringing the cost down to $3970. Now you can find them for around $3750. When the Ducati V4 came out, Akra most likely signed an exclusive with Ducati. So now Parts Unlimited cant sell the Akra exhaust for the V4 models or for the other Ducati modes. Since Ducati signed an exclusive with Akra , Ducati dealerships can charge $5515 for these exhausts. There are two Akra importers where dealers can buy Akra exhausts from. Part Unlimited who sold and still sells Akra exhausts for Ducati models other than the 2018 V4 models and newer Ducati's. And the 2nd Akra importer is Upshift Distribution, but they were never allowed to sell exhausts for Ducati's. Although there are those dealers who found a way to go around this monopoly and sell the Akra for much less and still get the upmap for that Akra. But the exhaust would need to be installed by a Ducati dealer and then they would download the upmap into the bike. There is a little more to it.

The Termi is a nice looking exhaust also. It actually comes with the T800 Upmap unit itself and the Sprint air filter. Unlike the Akra which get a Upmap download and thats that. You can do a lot more with the T800 Upmap unit itself. The device connects via blue tooth to your phone and you can play around with the map and download other maps. The Termi also comes with a carbon fiber belly pan. However you would need to get it glossed or let it remain matte. Sound wise is subjective. I personally like the sound of the Termi better. Performance wise I dont think you are chasing championships. So those that are on this post talking about the best performance and you know who you are. They will never see the difference between the Akra and Termi. Both exhausts are good exhausts. If you choose the Akra you would have to buy a new set of Ducati lower fairings in order for the Akra to fit. They arent expensive. The Termis come in both stainless steel and their limited edition titanium which cost $2516 more than the Termi stainless 4ucite. And one last thing. If you bought the Termis you would need to buy a Termi license plate bracket in order for your license plate to fit.

Good point, the Up-Map device is very good. It can be used for reading, and clearing, error codes from your bike. It also gives a description of the error, so, easy to understand.

You can upload different maps, and reinstall the stock map any time you want.

@RickD996 Ive made that mistake one to many times. Buying something that cost less because I wanted something on my bike. However not loving it and then some time later I wind up selling the part I bought for the sake of buying it and take a loss. Then buying the actual part I wanted and justifying it by telling myself well I did sell the other part so Im actually not doing that bad. All the while actually still taking a hit because I sold the 1st part I bought for less than I paid for it. Thank god Im a dealer otherwise Id really be in trouble with the wife. There is an old Russian saying "Durak plauteet dva raza" which translates to an idiot pays twice. LOL

@Roc Akrapovic began selling their exhausts here in the US in 1990. But I do remember the big guys were Vance and Hines, Two Brothers, D&D, and Yoshimura before seeing Akrapovic. And Akra wasnt that popular for a long time. Oh and I do remember seeing Termis on Ducati's back in the day. But I dont remember when Akra started to get really popular. They just started appearing more and more on bikes.

Hahah :D "There is an old Russian saying "Durak plauteet dva raza" which translates to an idiot pays twice. LOL" I live right next to Russia and that's the first thing that came to my mind

I have had both on my bike. Got rid of the akra due to the fact spot at 7. I think the bike looks cleaner with the akra even though it looks the part with the termi.
My bike made 14HP....... more with the termi than the Akra and has no flat spots. The bike is the ultimate high to ride with he sounds and HP of the termi. If I had to do it again I will go Termi again .

Wow, that’s impressive. Same dyno? Similar atmospheric conditions? Same tire?
I could not believe it myself. are dyne everything. It was at Troy Bayliss Desmo sport Ducati.
They have since then ran other V4s with Akra which was on par with mine and also other V4s with Termi which was also on par with my Termi results. I ma an akra man myself and could not believe it. I currently also have an akro on my GSXr 1000

There's a reason no V4 MotoGP bike has an exhaust configured like the Akrapovic.

Every V4 MotoGP has an exhaust configuration like the Termi. Front two exit by the rear wheel, rear two exit under the seat.

I doubt it is coincidence.
