Who is excited about the Ducati V4?

People are gonna hate me but i didnt get the 1299 because of looks. I bought it because of the way it rode, how the engine sounded and pulled, and how it made me feel when i test rode it. To this day im still not 100% sold on the looks of the panigale but i know theres a big grin everytime i throw my leg over her. But really its the engine that sold it to me cus it was noticeably different to the other bikes i test rode.

The Pani engine is good indeed.

But it was different from the 1098 (torque, dry clutch etc) which people complained about

and yet these last couple of superbikle engines still lack the sound and feel or the old school long stroke twins...which people complain about.

From the Video, shifting sounds really quick & smooth, much better than the 1199/1299. and does it have DVT? some many questions yet to be answered.

wonder what the R will look like......

^^^^ You are definitely in the minority there. No matter how good the bike rides or sounds, I'd say 9 out 10 made their purchase of a Panigale based on the stunning good looks, meaning that if the same exact package was offered in a bike that looked different, those buyers would not have purchased the other bike. Well, except for you of course ☺

No hate here.

Sales is very much based on "presentation precedes performance" sad to say it's all about the look. If it really is an amazing step in performance ergo and handling I'd be keen, but it's not out yet and I don't have the cash.

I'm baffled by this. The V4 motor is such a radical change, it warrants a new design. Yet, they just shoehorn it into the Panigale?

I'm sure it will be a performer, but so was the 749/999 series...and we all know how well those sales were.

This thing could pass as the next GSX-R.

As much as I want to believe Ducati is pranking us all, it looks like way too much effort went into that bike for it to be a practical joke. It just doesn't seem like something they would do anyways.

Still waiting to see a front facing photo. Obviously not a fan of the side profile. Rear end looks pretty good though. Still not a fan of them reusing the same old chicken foot wheels either. Lazy.

have you seen the latest SS? it's uglier than a practical joke.

D needs to get new designers in asap.

Makes me really happy that I purchased the Anniversario (which still gets better every time I ride her)...

Looks like the beautiful exposed rear shock absorber is now gone :(

Still not saying I'm crazy about it, but for some reason, the bike looks better in this photo than the others.

for mi the bike has twoo problems, fuel tank and side fairings, they will be easy to correct this if they want.

not a single decent line on this bike; not one area that i could say is aesthetically pleasing.

the SS is ugly and this thing is worse than ugly.

it actually looks far worse than the VFR it reminds me of.

D will win the ugliest superbike of the year prize.

(& of course the terrible fairing cutouts, one of which is there to expose a gorgeous black hose...smh)

I would hold of on judging the looks just yet. This picture is taken at a very unfortunate angle and the colors are over saturated as hell. Imo it will look far better in the official pictures.

While I don't love it in these pictures, I'm going to wait to see it in person before declaring it a massive mistake.

I agree....Also, this may look menacing in black.
My 2nd post. been lurking here as I was looking to get a panigale this year, but V4 news held me back.

If this were the official S bike getting ready for pics, wouldn't it have a hugger of some sort and carbon front fender?

I agree, although I am disappointed, but those engine covers, rear sets and rear sub frame look so incoherent and cheap. They can't change much

they need to redesign the nose, tighten up the lines, COVER the frame and tie in a new tail design -- basically, redo all the bodywork. (instead of bulging out, it needs to flow in towards the bike as in concave to the seat vs convex into ugly lines, etc.)

not rocket science. before it's too late.

problem is, the frame and subframe lines are off....
